Arrived in the post yesterday was a nice new Scottoiler! That will be going on Gita soon. Has anyone got any experience as to the best way/place to mount one on a GT380?
I notice the kit seems to be geared up to fitting to square section swing-arms and not round ones like mine.

Fit a Dresda swing arm to the 380 - like the one I have on my GT750!

Now you're talkin! I'd love to have a Dresda one. No doubt it is a great quality item but, I think they may be a little on the expensive side when compared to what I can currently afford. Of course, if you happen to have a spare one gathering dust in a corner of your garage that you want to send me...

Maybe within commuting distance of Grangemouth. But we would prefer to live in the highlands when I make a career change.

Yes. Had a look at a few places near there. Looks very nice.
Scottoiler now fitted to bike. Drilled and tapped a 5mm hole in gusseted part of the swingarm to make it fit neat and tidy. Picture to follow.

I have relatives in Falkirk and Grangemouth area. Did you check out the Falkirk Wheel? It's an amazing piece of engineering. Quite a nice place to live.

A buddy of mine here in the Sates is from the Arbroath area and he really wants to move back to Scotland and he plans on getting a place way up the north east coast away from everyone. The pictures look great, but too far from civilization for me.

Has anyone ever noticed how if you don't line up the dropper on your scottoiler perfectly, when you move your bike backwards it rips the nozzle off?

Sorry its been so long since I replied. We have been very busy for the last few months, moving house. Currently little progress to report on the bike. Whilst doing shakedown runs found a very tiny leak on the fuel tank. Got it welded but have yet to ride again. Changed jets in the carbs, but must have set float level in a hurry and it leaked fuel. Carbs have to come back off, but my new garage has yet to be organised and repaired. Spent ages repairing the leak on the roof, but have some further maintenance to do to stop damp from getting in from below (digging trench around garage and installing drainage channel to divert water from getting in and rotting timbers. Rotten timbers to be replaced too). Currently there is no room to move due to boxes of stuff everywhere!
Oh and my next project is make it possible to get my bikes out of the garage to the road. It took 4 people to get them up my twisty, narrow and steep garden path! So I need to shift a few tons of earth back to the front of my property to reinstate the old driveway that the previous owner had decided to remove. When I can get the bike out of the garage I'll take a few pics. It is looking a lot better than it last did.

Which Yamaha model and year were the front folding foot pegs from?

If i remember correctly they were off an xs750. They don't bolt straight on. I had to cut and weld them onto my old stubs. I have found that my expansion chamber hits the floor before the footpegs.
