Smokey & Jeff: NO/NO '06 Bandits in the US ??? NO/NO ZRX's either ??
I thought they were good until the '07 models ?? Obviously not !!!
What is Suzuki offering to replace it in the US market ?? That really weird looking GSX1400 they've been selling in Europe and Japan for the last 3 or 4 years ??
Hmmmmm.....should I go for the tasteful dark blue or the equally restrained metallic wine colour ?? ABS ??? Naw....that'd be silly. If I can't brake properly without such a "lady's aid" I'd better hang 'em up.
If I do buy it, Smokey, this'll be MY first new bike since 1977.

I know this is digging up an old post, but I had a happy moment at the dealership recently....
My t350 is sporting a modified 1979 "Brand H" CX500 gas tank. I did a little cutting and welding and now I have a Vintage Suzuki gas cap and the original Suzuki Badges correctly mounted to the tank, among other little invisible improvements. Well, the Petcock on this tank leaks, and it is the riveted style that does not have rebuild parts available for it...
The long short of it is that one of the parts guys at my local dealership, Wood's Fun Center, said that the part is no longer available and even if it was it would be about $42.00, and preceded to practically hang up on me. I did a little research and called back with the part number and the story changed to "Oh, Yeah... the number changed and now the cost is about $53.00... I'll have to special order it so if you want to return the part there will be a 20% restocking fee." I'm like, whatever, and do a quick Google search. I was able to plug the part number in at several different online dealerships and in less than 10 minutes I found someone who will sell the same NOS part for about $30.00, plus $9.00 shipping.
I expect the part to arrive next week, and I saved more than 25% over my local dealership.
I really wish I could buy locally, but when they are over priced, misinformed, and generally impolite it just seems awfully hard to give them my $$.
By the way Mr. Motorcycle has an excellant online micro fiche for most Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha motorcycles,atc,jetskis,etc...

Fang...good for you!
I would call the manager of the shop and tell him/her about your experience. I get so tired when you are not riding the latest clone of a Harley or Squidmobile, they treat you like you were the bubonic plague personified.
Ever since this happened to me at a Honda shop and I did what I just told you, they seem to be a little more tolerant of my requests.
Like I told the guy, I haven't bought my last motorcycle. Keep it up like this and it won't be long before he sells his last!!!

This might be an alternative. They are due to land in Oz in April
The have all the GSXR good bits on 'em. I'm not a cruiser person, but with our distances a 1.8 litre cruiser like this would eat the miles. As for dealerships. Tony Armstrongs Springwood Suzuki has alsways treated me well & go the extra yard to get the "hard to get " triple & twin parts at the right price

Woods Fun Center worked on my VLX when my friend backed over it when I was living in Austin. They quoted me $900 to repair a small chip in the gas tank, they wanted to replace it with a new one!! I don't think I'll ever go back to that place.fang wrote: The long short of it is that one of the parts guys at my local dealership, Wood's Fun Center, said that the part is no longer available and even if it was it would be about $42.00, and preceded to practically hang up on me.

That's the way it works for motorcycle insurance estimates - The part is either undamaged or if it has the smallest scratch, a new part is quoted for the estimate. Been that way for years. Nobody does paint and bodywork on bikes.
The best deal I ever got buying a bike was when I was a mechanic in a Yamaha shop. A then 1 year old Radian (600cc standard) came in for an estimate. It had a small dent in the tank and minor rash on the mufflers, plus other VERY minor scuffs/scratches here and there. I did a totally honest estimate and was shocked when it came back as totalled. I offered the insurance company $500 for it and they accepted the offer. It ran like new and the ONLY work I did to it was bend a brake pedal back into shape. Wish all purchases were that easy.

My local Suzuki dealer's General Manager, and Parts Manager and I had a "come to Jesus" meeting a few weeks ago over some parts that I ordered for the wife's scooter and the Mighty Buffalo after they took several weeks to come in and then tried to charge me more than I was quoted when I came to pick them up. During our meeting, they saw the light and were saved. Now, I speak and the Parts Manager jumps.......
I like it there.........
Now.

When you see the M109R n person, you will change your mind. The design team at Suzuki took every bad idea that everyone else had used and put it all on the M109R. It's not going to be their shining glory.captainbellybuster wrote:This might be an alternative. They are due to land in Oz in April
