GT550 crank seals

Post by tz375 »

Anyone have a source for those? I picked up a really nice 05/72 GT550J the other day and decided to check it all out before I bothered to make it look pretty. Turns out that the left crank seal had disintegrated and was lying behind the alternator which I considered to be less than ideal. :?

So while I tear the whole bike down for a rebuild, I need to order a set of crank seals. If anyone has any or has a source, please let me know.

Thx.

There are a couple listed on eBay UK but no part number is given, frustratingly, which makes it a bit of a gamble.

This search string might get you there: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksi ... &_from=R40

The suppliers in the UK that'd I'd suggest trying are Gov'ners Bridge (http://www.govnorsbridgemc.com) and Crooks Suzuki. I would think / hope postage would be cheap for these items.

I think all the crankshaft seals are still available from Suzuki - what you can't get are some of the bearings, any oversize pistons and I think the clutch push rod seal under the left side cover is also NLA. Drop Reiner an email (gtreiner1@aol.com) for his most recent parts list as he often does have hard to find parts. 8)

Useful info. Thanks guys. I'll start at our local Suzuki dealer. They don't always know what I'm talking about (they say that about me too  ) but they try to get what I need on order and are very responsive.
