whats it worth GT250

A GT250 on Clist caught my eye a while back. The price keeps going down and its finally almost with in my small budget. Seems like it would be a lot of fun.

Its a 77 GT250 that does not run, It has ignition problems, Sheet metal looks ok.

Just looking for a ball park figure.

Hi and welcome - if it's a non-runner, it's hard to tell without actually seeing it .... but bear in mind, it COULD be an easy fix but could also be an absolute nightmare. That gives you a strong bargaining hand.

I don't know what GT250 prices are like in the US but in the UK I wouldn't give more than £250 / $400 for it, unless all the cycle parts, paint, chrome and trim was present and good.

The NADA price lists will give you at least an indication/place to start from in the USA.

Thanks for the replies, I could not find the GT250 on the nada site is the T250B HUSTLER 250 the same thing. Sorry I don't know a whole lot about these bikes.

$300 to $500 was what I was thinking. I can't be to far off its been on C-list for a while.

The T250 was an earlier model sold from 1969 thru 1972. The GT250 is an updated version of that bike.
You are correct, NADA lists the 1977 GT250 as a T250.

Do you plan on fixing the bike yourself?
As Craig380 said, this could be a nice bike needing just a little work or it could be a lot worse.

If the bike just needs points/condensers & you do the work yourself, then you might get the bike on the road for less than $100.
If the bike has been sitting for a few years then the carbs probably need work too. A shop might charge $150 or more to clean & rebuild the carbs.
More extensive work, like a top end overhaul might be $150 for parts & $350 for labor.

Do you know an expert that could go with you to take a look at the bike?

Do you know what the bike's history is?
Has the owner had if for some years? Has he put many miles on it recently? Or is it a barn find?

Well I can't seem to get in touch with the seller?

If I ended up with it I would do the work myself. I'm not a mechanic but eventually I can get it dun.

That bike has been posted several times for more than a year if not two (near me too). Once I think the person said that 77 bike was used as a parts bike for his 76 GT250 that is for sale too. Only once did his early post say that. His price varies and once I think I saw $600 for the 77. He did not answer my inquiry either. Really doesn't care if he sells I suppose or tired of people trying to see how low he will go

What's up with the seat foam?

If the bike is complete and has low oxidation that's important. Same with paint. If everything is rusty, pitted and scratched dented never worth much due to poor cosmetics. And it’s only a 250.
Have to be seen (asked for high res pics no reply), but if low oxidation and complete, not too far off on price… if you want one like I did. I paid $400 for a different one similar condition. I have had bad luck (not saying you will) and much more money in it that its worth (NADA is good guide…. The sticking point is agreeing on condition). One in pristine condition can go higher than NADA .

If water got in carbs and crank not good or tank has significant rust in side. that will be expensive and parts hard to come by

There was a similar GT250 listed on the Chicago Craiglist for a while. No title, condition seemed close to the one you pictured, was asking $800. Too much, didn't sell. I agree $400-600 is realistic. Condition is everything at this vintage, take a real close look before committing- it's easy to overspend.
