Another one rescued!

Just brought this one home today. 1975 M all original except for handgrips. Missing rear turn signals and one of the rad hose chrome covers, but otherwise completely stock. Winter project....woohoo!

Wow, that really looks the works, there's not much work to do there to make it a minter.
I'm bidding on one in Florida right now, same year, same colour. Not as original, but maybe better condition (chrome work wise anyway).
I realise I'm being a bit cheeky now, but how much did you pay? It's just to give me some idea of the going rate as I need to add at least $2000 shipping costs. Please PM me if you don't want to give the game away

The clutch is not disengaging. When I put it in 1st gear she stalled. Any leads on what I should be looking for?

Stuck plates from sitting for a long time or a mis-adjusted release arm behind the small round cover. The cable end also needs to be looked at to see if its lifting the release arm in the cover.

Mal, the seat actually has a couple of split seams, but the pan itself looks brand new. This bike was kept indoors for sure. There was nothing in the plastic envelope taped to the underside. Might have held insurance/registration papers perhaps?

On my '74, there actually was a larger plastic pouch taped to the underside of the seat with the manual, delivery inspection sheet and a 'You and Your Suzuki' brochure inside. One of the pilot jets was stripped, so I tried the easy-out method (worked for me before), but lo & behold the easy-out snapped! Of course there is nothing to grab on to. I guess I'll be practicing my drilling now!

Ouch, that sucks. Trying to drill out a broken easy-out is not an easy task. Be very very careful to avoid ruining the bowl.

If you can find a drill bit small enough you can drill next to the broken easy out. You will need a hand powered drill for this so you can go slow and easy.
The idea is to drill away the brass between the easy out and the bowl threads without hitting both, going around the whole jet until it just falls apart and drops out.
You may have to pick at it a tad though with a small slender awl to fold it in and cause it to drop out.

Well after the disaster with the easy-out, the eBay fairy came to my rescue. The same evening I happened to be searching eBay for carb bits and lo & behold there was a seller offering a set of three float bowls complete with drain plugs and jets. Deal done, a couple of turns in the ultrasonic cleaner and we are back on track!
I'll leave the challenge of the broken easy-out for another day. At least I won't feel too bad if I mess it up. Thanks for the hints for how to approach it.

Almost finished! Just need to fit the brake calipers and the gas tank cap. She runs very sweetly.
