great site, anxious to see what i can learn here. my two 75 suzuki's, both bought locally kind of under the same circumstances.
first is my t500. bought from a guy about five minutes from me who was selling it for his wife. apparently here ex husband split in the early eighties and left the bike in the garage where it sat for thirty years. in the process of carb clean. then a new battery and i'll see what happens.
next suspect is a ts185. bought from the widow of the original owner. parked around the same time, ditto on the garage storage. same as the titan as far as service plus the tanks a little nasty in the process of cleaning it out now. hopefully i can report on how they ride soon. getting tired of sitting on them and making two stroke noises.
I'm glad you have chosen to post here and show us your bikes, both are very decent examples for sure so you did very well on your acquisitions.
That TS185L is in really excellent shape, you certainly don't find many around looking like that. I wont go the route of the "garbage can" thing, but I will ask you to consider me if you choose to sell it in the future.
i think i got lucky with the 185. pulled the battery and no acid damage. pulled the carb, opened it up and besides a little dried junk in the float bowl, it looks great. the tank has some old gas laquered up on the inside but i filled it with vinegar and its already doing its job.
hey coyote, see you have a 78 gs1000c. i've had three "e"'s in the past year.
the one by itself has 3,000 miles on it. the other two both had 6,500 miles.
found this kat on cl about 220 miles from me, gsx1000. had a mint yosh pipe. no dents, flat spots, scrapes, etc. just a bit of surface rust. traded into a junk dealer for a used riding mower.
this was my 300 mile stinger i found at a local dealership. was sitting in their lunchroom for years.
Dont you just love this? lots of decent bikes just fall in to some peoples hands, while other less mortals have to scrounge around for months and then they have to make something out of an abused POS, which is the ONLY one they can find.
You seem to have lucked out, 13ill !!!
That's a fine looking 185 you picked up. I put on a lot of happy hours/miles on its exact twin. It was my very first dirt bike. It's still in the family and running on my brother-in-law's ranch.....although it's not as minty as yours is......and has a lot more miles on the clock. I used to use it for commuting to work every day. With stock gearing it would easily do 75 MPH if you were plastered on the tank.

If one of the GS1000's is in your way, I will be glad to 'store' it for you and properly 'exercise' it now and then, you know keep the battery up, oil circulated, air in the tires.......
