Zooke's new forum underway
Ok, post your complaints, observations, and suggestions here, guys. I will try to iron out any wrinkles I can.
If you read this but have some problem logging in and posting, email me at subsim@gmail.com OR you can post your issue in the old forum. If you have a password issue, try the reset first. If your email is out of date, email me, I will fix it.
I will wait a couple days and then add another style and rebuild the search function.
cheers

Re: Zooke's new forum underway
It looks great! Is the "view unread posts new" I didn't see it in the previous forum and it's a welcome addition if it's new.

Re: Zooke's new forum underway
I think it was called "View posts since last visit" on phpBB.
It may not work correctly here until I rebuild the search, let me know.
Also, looks like we need to reconfigure our avatars.

Re: Zooke's new forum underway
This looks like the same setup as the HondaTwins board where you can view "unread posts" by section too. It seems to be working great although the default set is as of today so we'll have to get a bunch more posts and days usage before it becomes a big help.
Thanks

And 257 members actually sounds closer to 'real', and is in line with Muzza's board numbers.

Re: Zooke's new forum underway
My old avatar traveled over BUT it is very tiny now. You should be able to see it here. Haven't tried to redo it yet. No biggie. It's time to change it anyway.
So the 'old' board was loaded down with spammers and phoney members. Do you have a way to prevent that from happening again

Re: Zooke's new forum underway
This board should be harder for spammers to gain access to. If we get one or two a week, we can easily remove them (just use the bad post report button
). If we get more, I will add more anti-spam protection.
I have the avatar limits set at 200w x 210h, so it should be the same as before.

Re: Zooke's new forum underway
I noticed that also - it appears most of the avatars have been scaled during the transfer process. Looking at yours Coyote, the size was 191x290 on the old board and it has been scaled to 52x80 on the new one. Mine had been scaled from 160x120 to be 80x60. I fixed mine by just going into the 'user control panel' (look at the upper right side of the page) and I manually changed the avatar setting to be what I had before.Coyote wrote:My old avatar traveled over BUT it is very tiny now. Re: Zooke's new forum underway
My only suggestion so far is this:
I don't know if it's a function of the forum programming or if it's a feature or selection for the user, but over on www.svrider.com when you scroll through the topics list, those that you've posted in have an icon that show you've been active there. For me, this makes it a lot easier to "remember" which threads I've posted in, particularly if it isn't a thread that I started.
Is this available here?

Re: Zooke's new forum underway
I notice that URL's embedded in posts using the text work differently with this version - when you click on a link, it opens in the same window. Then if you do what I'm in the habit of doing, and close the window then you actually also kill your Sundial connection as well
. What you have to do is 'right click' on a link and then select one of the open options - either 'new tab', or 'new window' depending on what browser you are using.
Another nice thing, is that now if you click a 'smiley', it is inserted at your edit point, rather than at the end of all your entered text.
