Hi Terry,
Yes the frame has been powder coated, NOS front and rear fenders, rechromed exhaust, resprayed tank and panels. It was gold when I bought it but had it done Candy Gypsy Red, Ihad one in that colour back in '75'. Polished hubs, stainless spokes. fasteners, spindle's, replica rear shocks, which I'm not too happy with.
I have a set of carbs that I have ultrasonically cleaned, and in the process rebuilding a spare motor, vapour cleaned crankcases, new gearbox bearings, fully recon crank and NOS case covers. see photo's of progress so far.
good on ya , the closest i can get to performing engine surgury in the house is to sneek parts in one at a time and hide them in the computer room and pretend to surf porn while i fiddle with it.
oh er that sounded all frankie howard.
when you say rolling restore whats left to do.??
She will never be pretty but hoping she will be a fun ride.
Thanks for the comments guy's, the've made me laugh in these grim financial times.
Things left to do?
Well I need to swap motors when I finish the one in the engine photo's, also replace the carb's with some ultrasonically cleaned one's I have, I also have an electronic ignition to fit, but I'm going to put that straight onto the restored motor.
Ironically I'm not in a great rush because the exsisting engine/carb/ignition set up runs superbly.
Why am I doing it?
Again we could all ask ourselves that one, being an engineer by trade, there's not much you can do for yourself at home, but this is one where I can use my job to better my hobby.
That's an incredible job, Keith. Good on ya, mate.
In fact, I'd say you need to send some pics off to Classic Motorcycle Mechanics for inclusion in their "Show Us Yours" pages. It's worthy of at least that much exposure, never mind display at the next big classic bike show in the UK, IMO.
Fantastic work !!! Most of us on here can only aspire to be that detail-oriented.....
