employment!

Post by johnakay »

I'm pleased to say that I am now self employed!
working 19 hrs aweek.
once I've figured out what to do tax wise etc.
maybe next year I'll set up a business of my own ,working from home.
it took all in all to get through the tax office to get registered about an hour!
I've never been self employed in the 40 years of working.
we'll see how things go .
If I wanted to make a life-long career out of
working with the mentally retarded I would
have opened a Harley Davidson Dealership

Good luck with it Johnny.

My daughter has been self-employed for about four years now writing articles for various websites. She makes better money while staying home and raising her kids, than she could working a regular job and paying childcare.

nice one, John. Is that making the luggage racks, etc, or is it a different business?

no. I'm actually working for some one else as self employed care worker.
I don't wipe bums etc. all I have to do is help lift the person out of bed onto a commode then wait in another room till all cleaned up etc. and then help to put him a his comfort chair and when that's done I can go home.
night time lift him out of the chair onto the commode again once all cleaned up then put him to bed and that's me finished. I work 7 days but my hours are shared with another.sun/ mon/wed/fri am. tues/thurs pm 2 hours each time then on call for one hour from 1pm to 2pm,sun/mon/tue/wed/thurs.I just ring them up to see if they need me and if they don't need me then that's me finished for the day.
up till now it is working out fine .the only bug bare is I have to travel 21 miles each way.at least I've got some income coming in.

That is a big difference from your T500! The only reason you will not be whipped with a wet noodle, is because Suzuki bought up Kawasaki several years ago. (I think that's right???) Have you had any luck tracking down your old bike? Iam going to check into 'dynamic crank balancing' to see if it is not too expensive. I would love to have a smooth running GT500. I did not find out untill I owned the thing for a year that it was nicknamed 'old shakey'. :x :x

theres a couple reasons why I sold my ol T is that I've been riding modern bikes for to long and I nearly got caught out on braking into corners.
the last one I had was the last straw, just missed another biker.
it wasnt getting used much about 1500 miles a year if that.
it is not a type of bike that likes to be laid up for to long.
and of course the charging system wasn't working.
by the time I got it sorted I had already decided it has to go.
if I ever get another I'd definately change the brakes for a disc etc. and it need to be pre73 model so I don't have to pay road tax on it.
ok its only £50 but the gov get enough off me as it is.
why do you need to pay 3 road tax on 3 bikes. you can only ride one at a time.and that what I was doing as well as driving a car.
so 2 had to go.

I don't blame you. If it was not for the front disc on my GT500, I too would have weak brakes. The rear is good for slowing down a tad, it needs the disc to make normal stops. If I had the money, I would graft a GS rear disc and cast wheels onto this bike. Would look better and stop fantastic. It is amazing how different motor vehicle laws are in different countries. Here it does not matter how many bikes or cars you have, just have the insurance on them and your good to go. It is only $99.00 per year for the minimum insurance on my GT because of it's age and size, very cheap!
