Steering head bearing

Post by Normandy10 »

Trying to locate a lower bearing for my fork conversion, 1992 GSXR-600 steering head to a 1995 GT550. I need an All Balls p/n 99-3515-5, 48mm od, 30mm id,12 mm thick, but have had no luck tracking one down. They show it as out of stock, but the site allows no back order, no reply from them yet if they will be getting more anytime soon, and had no luck yet finding an alternate distributor. Any other sources out there?

For my 72 GT550 cafe build with stock forks, I used All-Balls lower bearing 99-3508 (27x48x14mm) & upper bearing 99-3509 (25x48x13mm).
The 14mm lower bearing worked out fine.

All-Balls 14mm lower bearing in the size you need: 99-3503-5 (30x48x14mm). Per All-Balls, its in stock.

Alternatively, Pyramid might have a bearing in the size you are looking for.

I’ll need to look at the stack-up to see if the 2mm thickness will still fit. Thanks for your input.

In the UK we have a number of supplies like this..

https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/Taper ... index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

all the tapered rollers you can think of... once you know the size needed. I'd be surprised if there aren't similar vendors in the
USA.

After much searching I ended up ordering from Simply Bearings in the UK, as they were the only source I could find that could supply both the bearing and correct seal ring plate. I did have to call and talk to me of their tech support people but found the very helpful.

Marksman is another UK supplier of the bearings & seal:

This webpage has the All-Balls logo for roller bearing seals. Their seal part numbers are the same as All-Balls. You can order those seals by part number from All-Balls:

All Balls had the upper bearing and seal but no stock or back-order for the lower, that’s why I had to look elsewhere.
