Hi all...
I've a question about those special bearings with nr. 09269-25010
This bearings are rare or no longer available and when they are available the price is very high.
My search on Google leaded me to https://www.discountbikespares.co.uk/ou ... GT185.html.
They offer this bearing with a new nr. 09269-25011 which replaces 09269-25010.
I bought one of this bearings with nr. 09269-25011 in Germany.
The difference between the bearings is only a smaller diameter of the special lip (oil guide plate?).
old bearing 09269-25010 diameter special lip 58mm
new bearing 09269-25011 diameter special lip 49mm
Please have a look on the fotos....
Did anyone know if the new bearing could be problematically for oil lubrication of the big end bearings of the connecting rods?
regards from Germany
Klaus

Re: GT550 main crankshaft bearing 09269-25010
Interesting question.
Per US online parts diagrams:
09269-25010 is for GT550s. It matches up to oil guide plate 12511-34000.
09269-25011 is for GT185s. It matches up to oil guide plate 12511-36100.
There are some eBay listings for the GT185 guide plate 12511-36100.
Didn’t find a listing for the GT550 oil guide plate.
I don’t know the answer. It may be necessary for the oil guide plate to match up with the special lip.
Paul Miller has two sets of GT550 bearings 09269-25010 listed on eBay but they are expensive.
I’m about to rebuild a GT550 crank & got those bearings from Paul.

Personally, I would only use the correct parts and as cranks are being refurbed by Chris Appleby in the UK, so correct bearings must be available.
I think the problem is original conrods not being so and people using KTM rods which are 1mm longer, causing piston/head conflict without a spacer under the barrels.

Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

My GT550 lower end had little bits of metal likely from holed piston.
I have all new correct NOS bearings & seals. Am ordering new crank pins just to play it safe since they are available & cheap.
Have fingers crossed that the rods are ok.

1mm longer rods are a good solution if you don't want to use CI rods. They do need a thicker base gasket/lift plate and what better time to do some porting....Alan H wrote:Personally, I would only use the correct parts and as cranks are being refurbed by Chris Appleby in the UK, so correct bearings must be available.

Are you sure that Chris Appleby is using OEM bearings? Maybe he's getting them made somewhere else. If he has a good source for OEM spec bearings, can the rest of the world's GT550 owners also get those bearings without going to CA to get them? I'd speculate that he is getting them from the same source as CI, or from a similar source.

This eBay seller in Japan is providing quality parts for a wide range of bikes, including Suzuki.
I've bought his stuff several times, and Paul Miller rebuilt 2 T305 cranks for me using his parts...Paul was surprised at the quality being so good.
Shipping to USA takes only 5-7 days.
