GT500 Footpeg Rubber

Post by TrevorGT500 »

Could anyone help, to confirm the GT750 foot peg rubber would fit onto GT500.

Thanks Trevor

I am assuming you are referring to the drivers pegs,I believe the 500 pegs are specific to the 500 and dont interchange with other models.

The T500/GT500 have folding driver pegs, which are different from the fixed driver pegs of the GT triples.

The online parts manuals for the GT500 don’t list the part number for GT500 driver peg rubber, so I can’t confirm that the T500 & GT500 part is the same.

Not world class, but I just put hand grips on my footpegs.

For my T500, I bought the rubbers for the GT passenger pegs which are cheap and plentiful. They pushed on to the original metal inner after removing the old rubber. As they have a through hole not a blind hole, so I left the rubber a little proud of the end of metal tube found something to plug the center of the metal tube a little under flush, then filled the end up with a black PU sealant.

I used this.... http://www.screwfix.com/p/sika-sikaflex ... 00ml/79299

Used a blade to smooth it out flat and wiped off the excess, used the edge of the blade to make a line across the face to continue the parting line of the moulding. Then Left it for about 30~40 minutes until the surface forms a skin. Then gently pat the surface with my finger wrapped in a cloth, I used a microfibre /terry towel type cloth. The skin that has formed stops the sealant sticking to the cloth, but its soft enough under the skin to take a lightly stippled pattern from the cloths texture. It also takes the shine off as well.

Leave to fully cure, refit, job done at a fraction the cost of the OEM assembly or importing the reproduction rubbers. IMHO result would pass all but the closest scrutiny. 8)

Cheers - AK

I like this idea and am going to give a go as my footrest rubbers are disintegrating with age so need replacing :-)

For people's interest, I purchased and fitted footpeg rubbers from an early GS750. THey seem to fit OK, used Black silicone to affix rubber to peg.
