o-ring

Post by Eddie »

well I posted it in the other thread but so people don't have to read the entire thing I thought id make it shorter,, I replaced the o-ring behind the front sprocket a long time ago ,,,well it started leaking so I just replaced it again with a spare o-ring I had,,,i guess back then I realized that there is 2 different size O-rings and the left over one I had was the wrong size but I just realized this after I used the smaller one,,,has anybody used the small o-ring when its supposed to be the big one? any problems? I have a 74 gt750 and I didn't realize they have 2 different size o-rings  , why???!!!!! antways I just rode it and I cant tell if its weeping oil or it that was left over oil but I'm just wondering why the 2 different sizes did they change the engine case ??? or what ?? and does it really matter which o-ring is used? I know that sounds stupid but I was thinking maybe they changed the size just because people were not getting the plate on with the o-ring still in place or I have no idea I just hate taking it all apart again ,,,,I cant believe I didn't remember that

so what year did the o-ring size change ? and other than ordering both O-rings how do you know what size you need? or do both actually work?

I think KLMAB use one O-ring (the small one) and only the B ALSO uses the second, larger one.

Thanks yeadon , I have a 74 l model and I used the small o-ring so maybe I used the right one then ?, it seemed like the bigger one fit easier but I was able to make the little one fit also I wish they had the specific part number for the year bike but they don't and it seemed in my case both would actually fit just the small one was tighter that's all ?, Oh well also I was n sure if the big one was big because it was stretched out or what , it was the old one that I took off but the new one is on and it may be the wrong one but who knows :wth:
