Radiator flush & clean out

Post by PaulD »

Is it ok to use commercial radiator flush in a kettle? I've noticed lately that only one side of the radiator core gets hot so I want to give it a good internal clean but I've heard that the stuff used in cars like Holts rad flush will damage the pump seals?
Those jap bikes are rubbish they won't last five minutes son, get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!

I don't know if I'd try doing that with the radiator attached to the bike, although in theory I suppose it is possible if the cleaner is rated for aluminium blocks and cores. I'd be concerned about plugging the thermostat so if I were to try it, I'd likely remove the thermostat first. Normally the radiator is flushed with a cleaner off the bike. 8)
