Need some help with running issues on a Suzuki 150

Post by hotrodjohn71 »

I am a Machinist by trade and have been a mechanic all my life. I have exhausted all of my knowledge, ability and skill trying to figure out why my '65 Suzuki S32 (150cc) won't run good.
It had been stored many years. I recently pulled it out, went through the carbs cleaning them thoroughly, changed points, condensers, did a re-ring job on the original pistons since I couldnt source new ones, and light hone job to remove the cylinder glaze and I have a compression at almost 100psi per cylinder cold. Set timing according to my Clymer manual and info I have seen online as info is very hard to find for this bike. 25 degrees before TDC, and im getting a blue spark albeit not hot but I subbed in a couple of automobile coils to troubleshoot and there was no change in running. Carb slides both bottom out and are synchronized.
This bike was 'rideable' a few times after I first pulled it out of storage and got it running, (a little gutless on the low end but still rideable) but now is difficult to get started and tries to start but won't start, it has zero rev or power above idle and just dies if i try to rev it, and won't stay running.
I did a pressure check on the crankcase. in 7 minutes, I only lost a half pound starting at 6 psi. And on the vac test of the crankcase, I lost 1 pound in 5 mins starting at 6 psi.
I really want to get this running again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How old is the fuel? If it is more than a month or so old, drain the carbs and tank and toss that in your car or lawn equipment and fill it with fresh fuel.
