Thanks Lane

I can't wait to give it a proper road test after fixing a few things

Oil leak from left injector line (new washers)

Slightly more perplexing an exhaust leak from the seam on the right silencer adjacent to the rear axel. Bit late to get it welded up now :)

I thought some carefully applied epoxy putty forced into the spilt might work.

It was great to actually ride it. Hope nobody on YouTube grasses me up for riding without a helmet

A thing of beauty. You've done a great job - seeing the end result is motivation for me to keep going on mine . Enjoy riding the beast.

Thanks for the nice comments guys, I am sitting here feeling a bit embarrassed  however as only I know all the bodges, mistakes and non-standard areas on the bike.

It is a little cracker though for what it is    and is just what I had in my minds eye when I started. Far from original as the base bike is/was a T500M but I just love that Candy Lavender colour scheme from the T500R.
Hopefully there is an easy 10,000 miles of riding ahead over the next few years, all in glorious mellow sunshine of course :) .

ROCKY PISTONS worth buying ?

Post by Admin »

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 34021&rd=1

I'm currently bidding on these for my winter project. I'm hoping someone can tell me if they are worth buying. Are Rocky Pistons any good ? I admit I really don't know much about internal parts. If they are new and shinny I usually buy them. Thanks for any advise.

They were probably made by ART just like the originals. Rocky had a good reputation back when these bikes were new. I would buy them.

I agree. Rocky Cycle Supply was one of the big distributors back then, and their products always seemed good. They're still around, too...sort of. After they merged with Ed Tucker's outfit, the company became known as Tucker Rocky Distributing.

I have NO idea if this stuff works, never seen it, never tried it, but I think used tractor shop use this to make tractors purty before they go to auction. www.colorbackpaintrenewer.com. Some kind of clear liquid you spray, or comes in spray cans.

Lane is 100% correct. Look at the lower rear of the tank.
That is where the seat butts up against the tak, sheltering it from sunlight.

Leaves a shadow of the correct color.
