OK, some progress pics... Only real progress is the addition of my newly arrived brake cable, and the mini indicators.

Next will be a set of modern GSXR/Bandit switchgear, then I can wire the damn thing.

Painted pipes are a temporary measure to get me up and running... Do people prefer flameproof silver or flameproof matt black?

i noticed you painted the engine..... does that have any effects on the cooling of the engine?
just asking because it was one of the things i thought about doing, except with the factory blue
or something close to it to. give it a unique look.

Retaining heat was something I considered, but it's only a couple of coats of rattle-can heatproof black, not a thick powdercoat or anything. Should be fine, I'd imagine - A lot of people paint aircooled bike engines and I haven't heard of issues.

The main problem you'll encounter is getting something that will stay stuck to the hot motor, and also remain the same colour after a few hundred heat cycles.

Well, I've quit smoking, so that's freed up $100+ a week of play money. Have purchased a set of switchgear (brand new Hyosung switch block, copy of the last generation Bandit, $45 brand new) and a set of sportsbike pegs that should fit the original T500 mounts.

Chain and sprockets, tyres, wiring, burnouts.

Switch block arrived today - Looks good. Even managed to find an online wiring diagram.

Pretty sure modern GSXR pegs will fit (angle looks right)... I've ordered CBR600RR pegs from ebay, they look right as well. Will post pics up when they arrive.

Coming along nicely GM.....we are still watching with interest.
I have been undecided what to do with the finish on the motor of my newly started build. But I think I have come to a decision now......the bottom end will be polished as we normally do, and I'm opting for a similar scheme to Wingspan, painted silver heads with black barrells. I shall remove the black from the edge of the 4 wider fins at the top of the barrells and polish those edges. Hopefully I wont suffer heat issues, as I shall be using heat proof powder coat.

Happens all the time on some of the car forums I'm on - some bugger turns up out of the blue with a project thread, rips in for a few months then disappears...

Can't believe it's been three months since my last update. Have been busy with work and cars and a new venture...



Big progress last weekend - back on its wheels!

Have ordered another round of parts from Suzuki and am starting to get organised with painting it.

Sandblasted the tank on the weekend - very, very clean with one tiny dent on the LHS. Paint on the way, with a slight change of plans from the original purple/white.

In other very exciting news, paid for a set of Titan Performance spannies and torque arm today - Can't wait until they arrive. Thanks Paul!

Thanks man!! Going silver rather than the factory candy lavender/white was a split second decision and I was disappointed when I picked up the panels from my mate who painted them - They're the same colour as my crappy work sedan and I thought they looked boring.

As soon as I got them on the bike, I knew it was perfect - absolutely love it. Am now on the lookout for the perfect period race stickers for the side panels and it will be (cosmetically) done. Still need to rebuild the carbs, wire it, sort the chain etc etc. Will give a proper update very soon - has been a long time since I've posted here.

I have a set of modern Yamaha rear set pegs (off a 600 I believe). I got them of eBay a couple of years ago when I was told that they could easily be modified to fit. In the end I have decided that I will go the Titan Performance way, so I have these as surplus.

On my GT motor I found a local guy who does high temp spray ceramic coatings for a good price. The results look great on both the motor and the side covers. They even put a non-stick smooth coating on my inlet and exhaust ports.
