Fred, I can honestly say I am having the time of my life...as far as sleeping at night...I slept like a baby. Kathy is one tough racer and her H-2 is very fast. I had quite a punch list that day and very fortunate to make it out of the first round. My goal for this year is to run respectable ET and MPH numbers against these guys. I still have a ways to go but will continue to improve these numbers at every race. I'm targeting 10.60 and 126 mph at Indy next month.

Here is a link to a very cool video that Gary Melinick made of the 2-stroke drag bikes. On a sad note, AMA Dragbike announced that they are ceasing operations so the rest of this years racing is up in the air. Hope you enjoy Gary's compilation of some of the quickest 2-strokes on the planet...

That is a fabulous line up of beautiful bikes, and their owners. Seems to be a common, pashionate intensity among them, and a rather large grin factor. I hope for all concerned that the racing organizers get things straightened out so this pashionate madness can continue. Thanks for the insight into your excellent adventure. Cheers.

2-stroke race bikes

Post by water cooled »

Fred, those bikes certainly are fabulous...and it has been (and I hope continues to be) an adventure.

Mark, though the H-2's are fast, beautiful and appealing to many, there is nothing like a Suzuki GT750 race bike and I am proud to be a part of Super Eliminator holding down the fort with a Suzuki entrant. I am going to keep working on this bike until it is as fast as some of the others in the class. In time, it will run high 9's and I bet that will turn a few heads.

The Super Eliminator committee has established a formal competition for the 2-stroke bikes to be held later this year.

September 25th, 26th 2010
Purple Haze Racing Nationals
U.S. 131 - Motorsport Park, Martin, MI

There are 17 bikes (2-stroke only) entered so far. Format will be the same...Qualification on Saturday, Eliminations on Sunday. Qualifying rounds have been expanded to 3 passes. There is a Fast Reaction Time Award of $100 during qualification round and a Payout for Finalists as well as Semi-Finalists.

Great thread, Im dig'n this bike and all excellent info thats been posted by everyone.

On your first front end, howd you get that thing so low? Shortened tubes and rethreaded? Just wondering whats the best way to bring mine down.

Plus Im right between Martin and Indy, maybe Ill try and hit an event.

Thanks.

Its a great question about the front end...the forks were given to me back in the late 1980's. I was never sure but believed they came off of a GT500 or T500. They have a C-Ring keeper as opposed to being threaded. I dont believe they were modified and since they were 35 mm, they fit right up inside the GT750 triple clamp and we fit a "Fast from the Past" fork brace to it along with a standard GT caliper.

All that said, I ended up installing a GS450 triple clamp with GT250/380 forks (33mm).

The 35mm forks and fork brace that I had removed are available. I wont ever need them again so if your are interested in them, just let me know.

Shoot me a email and let me know what you need out of the set up. As long as I can use the 4LS drum set up.

The forks should work with 4LS but not the fork brace. The brace is 175mm and the 4LS design is wider.

Kevin,
Is there a last big race of the season that we all need to get out to see? Maybe we can get the Michigan Mafia out in force, or a bevy of Buffalo, a gaggle of GT's, a team of triples.....

Yes...there is one more race for the 2010 season. Its this weekend at US-131 in Martin MI and Super Eliminator will run as part of the AMSNOW Race event. So, there will be a ton of radical 2-strokes (sleds and bikes) drag racing for top honors.

Hopefully, I will get a chance to lower my ET a bit. The bike has some added HP since the race in May so we'll see what this does...I'm pretty excited and hope to close the gap between Suzuki and Kawasaki...at least a little more before the season is over.

Best ET so far is 10.91 and best MPH is 121. If everything works out, those numbers should improve.  :D

Here are a few pics from the PHR Nationals up in Martin, MI. One of the biggest showings so far for 2-stroke bikes. Today was Qualifying; tomorrow will be Elimination rounds. Made some improvement on the ET and MPH. Best ET during round 1 of Qualification of 10.51 sec and best 1/4 mile speed so far this weekend of 130.34 MPH. Still working out how to launch her with the increased HP....its like a different bike. Hope you enjoy the pictures these pictures from today....hope to post more tomorrow.
