Wouldn't worry too much about that Wayne. My seals were 45,000 miles/37 years old when this happened to me and I suspect the fuel bath more 'finished them off'.
No really... it's supposed to smoke.

I got the vacuum petcock fixed and it is not leaking, but I added a manual cut-off just for insurance.

Bike also runs lots better with the air jet mod I did to the carbs. It still has just a very minor amount of surging when you chop the throttle at speed, but nothing like it was. I loc-tited the new air jets in place. I figured if one of them got loose, it could really make a mess of the engine.

Good deal Wayne, still working on my 750 as it still will not start ever since I tried for the last Vintage Ride.

Have spark, cleaned the carbs, it tries but nothing. Timing will probably be next but I don't see how unless it's something internal.

Terry, I got so tired of screwing with the points on my Buffalo, I converted it over to a Dyna S ignition and have never had to mess with it again. I set the timing with a dial indicator on all three of the Dyna S pickups.

Points SUCK and three sets of points SUCK three times as bad!

I set mine with a dial indicator also, it ran fine so I don't know what I will run into. I looked at the points and they are set....we will see what i can find. The bike ran fine with never a issue until now, so I don't know how anything can be out of wack.

I don't know if I can drain the cylinders or not of oil.

I just went thru the same with mine, trans full of gas, has had problem with flooding once or twice before but just the cylinders. Wayne, where did you get a manual cut-off? Is it small enough to fit in there, not a lot of room.
