GT380 Rear sets

Lane. 2 words - Disks and fender.

Replace the two 6.5 pound front disks with one 3 pound disk and a single EX/SV caliper.

The rear fender weighs quite a bit too.

Both footpegs and their mounting bolts add up to a chunk of ounces too. Alloy rear sets would be a big help there. Aluminum bars ILO steel will get you closer, and aluminum engine cover screws save a few ounces too.

Of course that heavy electric starter and solenoid and drive gears and clutch all add up to a few pounds of dead weight.

Then grind off the front lower radiator mounts and replace with a single thin steel mount.

Remove that bracing from around the steering head and replace the top tube with a thin wall Chrome Moly from Aircraft Spruce. I'm not sure it will add up to 50 pounds, but it will get you a few pounds at least.

Well, lets see. about three months ago I was 240lbs. Now after eating properly and no exercise yet, I am 209lbs. A loss of 31lbs should get me back a few ponies.

Hey Durgam

Try Buchanan's in Southern California for alloy spoked rims. I run them on my highly lightened GT380 - cost was around $180 per wheel for spokes, rims, truing and polishing.

The rest of my GT380 is bits, Triumph rear fender and tail light, GS450 tank, CB750 Headlight, fully tuned engine from my buddy Stan Stevens back in the UK, Higgspeed pipes, Mikuni flat slides with K&Ns
