Parksie, that wasn't what I meant, though it is an interesting idea.
What I meant was that to non Americans, Canadians seem to be like US Americans in the same way that to non anitpodeans, kiwis seem to be like Aussies.
And arguably, to many US Americans, Canadians are more or less the same, but to Canadians, they are completely different. It's not just the accent.
And I am not saying that they ARE the same, just that many people do not see the differences - same as Aussies and Kiwis.
