Mark , there shouldnt be any thing holding the crank in place . You may just need to get firm with it .. maybe flip the cases over a sheet of cardboard and give the crank ends a good rap , with the crank weight working for you maybe it will drop out
on a different note ,are the cylinder studs available because mine are badly corroded ,has anyone changed them out.
one came out cleanly when i undid them at the start.
but the others are in a bad state.
let me know what you think,

I removed and replaced all but one of mine and several required Helicoil inserts when all was said and done. Although it was not easy, it was well worth it in the end. I'll see if I can get a better pic without the gasket in place. I think replacement parts are still available.
Get a set of heavy duty studs from ARP the car stud people. I couldn't find them in their online catalog but they will sell you a set of ten plus 1 single the right length with the right thread. Stock is larger at one end that the other to keep them tight in the cases.
With stock studs, both ends are 10mm, but the bottom end is tighter that the top end.
Use a stud extractor plus WD40 and heat to get the old ones out.
stuborn buggers them studs, but thanks to my trusty blowtorch/pj blaster and stillsons with a cheater pipe the length of a telegraph pole and the the family cheer squad shouting "yes you can," like a demented obama rally.
they all gave up in the end.
now where did put those steroids
still waiting on the bearings to arrive from paul miller who was cheaper than bill bunne.
depending on the cost from summit for the arp bolts.
i was thinking of getting some h/t 10mm cap head bolts cutting the socket head of and threading them to suit at work providing i can get the right thread length of the shelf.
