Kris , did you get your crank back ? Any further development on the reed intakes ?

Crank and reed cylinder update

Took some time to aquire a shipping case with fool proof locks and gorilla-proof construction. Same as the rock bands use for their gear. I lined the interior with heavy duty foam used for seat cushions on the commuter trains...("borrowed" it from work....Ha!).
Made a cut-out section of foam for the crank, so it fits tight and hopefully it will make it to the UK and back after the repair.
Sadly the rest of the project is on hold until the credit cards get paid off.
I hate to carry balances (especially 15K+ balances...) as it is just feeding the damn bank. So as soon as the cards get settled, it's game on for the project!

Hey, I've tried to contact the guys in OZ that did up the 1000cc GT sand cast cylinder and have herd nothing back. Have you herd anything from those guys?
Would love to hear thay topped 450MPH with that monster!

Kris , i also have out to Bill Bune http://www.billbune.com/ a crank for the seals to be replaced ,inspected , trued and welded .. i cannot wait for that bill but at least it shouldnt twist under the hundreds of HP it going to see :roll:

OK John, Fess up. What motor is that dyno chart from? Not too many GT750s making power on the high side of 9250 and still strong at 10k.

If Dave's squish head and reed porting works as planned, his should make that sort of power easily.

No pressure Dave...

I'm a sneak......... 8) The dyno run was from a stage 2 500 Kawi triple with reeds. The GT should easily beat the 500.......

That's pretty good for a 500. Most tuned 750's don't make much over 90 and that includes Magee's reed motor with fat pipes.

Of course there are exceptions and I hear that the "biggest" number to date stands at around 240hp or somewhere in that region.

That makes me wonder what the mechanical limit is on a GT750. Old style Wisecos used to be limited 8500 because of their weight. TR750s used to melt down like a Chernobyl reactor above about the same RPMs with that quiescent head design.

I suspect that with lighter pistons, extra reed and transfer area, and squish head, they should be OK up to 9500 and that would change everything.

So Mr Dave, we are expecting to see 120 @ 9,500 on gas and 180 on squeeze. :twisted: :wink: :roll:

Don't worry about it blowing up. Think of it as testing the limits, or pushing the envelope. In my case it's more about finding the envelope :oops:

But we plan on giving back when his crank gets returned. We're just filling in time for him. Right?

And on that subject, I wonder what HP target Kris is aiming at. With reeds and high spinning crank he must be targeting to beat the 120HP TZ750's so that means a target of 140 or more at 9,000. Yes? No?
