GT500 steering damper?
Does an aftermarket steering damper currently exist for the GT500?

If you are looking fro a genuine Suzuki option - maybe not, but the obvious choice might be to fit a Kawasaki style hydraulic damper to a fork leg.
They are available from many sources, the cheapest is probably www.mikesxs.com

I dont mean to hijack your post but can anyone tell me why the GPR stabilizers are so expensive?

Is it just because they are more adjustable than the hydraulic type? Can one be used on "our" type of bikes? I have never had the chance to look at one, so how do they work?
I have a GSXR hydraulic dampener fitted up to my buffalo. It can be done, you just may need to get creative with the mounting.

My bike is a "bighole" I keep throwing money into, so I had to get another!

Get one from a GSXR
You can mount a standard damper to the fork leg. I think I got this one off a GSXR, but they are available from other aftermarket sources. I've seen them mounted above the triple clamps, but that didn't work due to the clubman bars. You can also mount them from the fork leg to the side of the frame. I tucked mine underneath because it looked a little cleaner.

John, those rotary style dampeners are low volume items and I believe/believe there are only 2 different companies currently offering them.
Thus, there's a kind of exclusivity factor involved here that doubles the price over what you would expect. They are charging what the traffic will bear.
WAG, but I'll bet they don't manufacture more than ~25 of any particular model at one time. VERY low volume......and the hand assembly labour involved will definitely increase the costs substantially.
