I don't think he's priced restoring an H2 recently.....

It's beautiful, but if I spent that much money and time, I'd have put the correct crash bar on it, rather than a 72/73 bar. Also, I HATE the repro seats without the trim, but that's just a preference.

Lane, I know what you mean, I don't care for the repro seats without the trim either. It makes it look 'unfinished'. It is however very easy to install trim from an original seat. I have done this on several of my bikes with good results.

Just a note on crashbars, the 72J & the 73K are actually different. If you look close at the picture in his auction, you will see an 'indent' in the middle of the bar at the bottom (right behind the front wheel) which makes it a 73K. The 72J crashbar will not have the 'indent'.

Ed, i thought there was a difference, but couldn't remember what it was. Good catch. The L crashbar was actually a little different from the later ones also (I just learned recently). It had the more rounded shape to the most outboard tubes (like the J/K), rather then the very straight tubes on the MAB models. It's a very subtle difference.

The one I have on Pinky is actually the MAB type.

Lane, thanks very much for that info  I didn't know the L crashbar was different from the M/A/B. One things for sure, the bike in the auction is a beauty :)

I always loved these as a kid...

This is the first full size bike I remember wanting when I was growing up. My neighbors had a SL175 and a SL350. The neighbors 350 was red, and the 175 was blue but no matter. I felt that this bike was cool sounding and the candy colors back then were the greatest for a motorcycle intoxified youth.

I promised myself one of these someday, but at this price I may have to break that promise. I wish I had this one though....

That was my favorite of the 350 configurations.

Ed, I didn't know it either until I bought that other L model last summer. That's when I noticed the difference. I should have kept the one off that bike!

Man....that thing is neat. I wish I had one for my collection.

We used to have descriptions for all the Honda models:

CB - Crash and Burn
CL - Crash and Live
SL - Slide and Live
GL - Good Lord

1. Dash is wrong - L's have a red high beam light and the gear
indicator window is green not purple.
2. Missing clutch cable boot and clutch lever cover (come on dude,
they're cheap as chips!).
3. No warning stickers at all anywhere... ($35 from reproductiondecals).
4. Discs possibly (the jury is still out) wrong, probably should have
straight edged holes, not curved.
5. Radiator crash bar is wrong - that bar looks like it's off a J/K.
6. Head bolts - should be rounded on top not square.
7. Missing chrome clamp covers on top radiator hose.
8. Front fender stays possibly should be stirrups over the stay, not
bolted from underneath (jury is out on this one as well).
9. Calipers/lines are wrong - should have locating posts on the banjo
fitting at the caliper (as far as I know exclusive to L's).
10. Missing rubber bumpers/caps on top radiator frame bolts.
11. Carbs may be wrong - early L's at least, didn't have individual
vacuum outlets on each carb, although fitting later carbs is a good
idea as far as synching is concerned.
12. Missing brake-line brackets/clamps - in the second pic there
should be a bracket and clamp around the brake-line junction (that's
why they're there!) and brackets behind the fork legs with a rubber
grommet to hold the line in place.
13. Speedo cable is possibly wrong - it's too short and doesn't appear
to be routed through the rubber guide on the front fender and the
guide is missing beside the horn - hang on, there is no horn, or it's
not located where it should be!
14. Missing spring on oil pump lever.
15. Seat is missing chrome trim, and, should have 'GT' below 'Suzuki'
on the rear (not visible, so not confirmed).

Picky, picky.  It's real nice but not worth the $8000 bid it has now, I thought it might reach 5K, I hope he get his money and doesn't get screwed. Also, the GT badges don't have the glitter red paint, that's what you get now when you buy new ones, just like the front fender stays and the head bolts.

Although that is a shiate load of money, would you rather have that than say a SV650 Vstrom, which, after dealer set up fees, etc, etc would be very close to that amount and would be valued at $3k five years down the road.
I guess it all depends on your perspective and on what you plan on doing with the bike:

If lots and lots of miles and little maintainence is your thing, then the Buffalo ain't your bike.

If having something that you don't see on every corner every day is your thing, then the VStrom just wouldn't do.

Remind me never to post pics of my bikes with suzukidave around  (just kidding Dave  )

If you look on the guy selling the 74 gt750's website he has some real nice bikes & says he does restorations. The strange thing is he has a picture of one of my bikes on there. If he is using my picture what other bikes on there don't belong to him & who elses pics is he using???

Click on vintage bikes then go to page 2.......
