My 5 year old daughter started kindergarten this year so she's on a school bus twice a day. Imagine my surpise to find seat belts in the school bus.... And the drivers won't start driving until they get buckled in. That's why it takes so long for the bus to get rolling after the kid gets on board these days - they're busy buckling up!

I figured they would Start before Long with them Somewhere.Bac whenI was in School they had Talked about Putting them on Our Bus to keep us UnderControl but they Decided to Install a Video camera to figure out where the Seats where Going First.   The School System Had a name for Our Bus "The Butler Wrecking Crew" If anything Happened they would Call Everyone in as the "Butler Wrecking Crew" and Weed out the Ones that they wanted to Keep.  We actually went thru More Bus Drivers in a 6 Year Period than the "Bloody Third Crew". :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm pro seatbelt, I know personaly of someone who is dead and one who is paralized because of amount other things, not wearing seat belts.

I think they do more good then bad, that is for sure. There maybe some cases to the contrary, but the are the exception.

No seatbelt/helmet here in Qld will cost you $225 + 3 demerit points, plus the driver is seen to be responsible for any others in the car & cops the same fine & demerit points for each of them not wearing a belt. 4 people in the car with no belts = $900 & 12 points. Lose all 12 demerit points & lose your licence!!! So far (touch wood) I have not had a traffic fine or lost any points in 32 years of having my licence. Cheers, Paul.

You guys have resurrected a whole bunch of memories I had hopefully buried forever. I used to wrench Ossas for a living back in the early '70's. Yes, the engines were pretty bulletproof.....it was just the external stuff that was pure crap.....carbs, ignitions, clocks, etc etc.
Nope, if a guy came up and offered me a brand new crated Ossa of ANY description for free, I'd start running in the opposite direction.....LOLOL

Capt'n
Its been a while since I got caught with no seat belt.. Looks like the price has gone up by $50 since then and an extra demerit point. I definitely can't say I've gone 32years without being booked although it has now been several years since I was last pulled over by the blokes in blue

I've sent him a pair of rotors for a Buffalo. I'll photo and post the results when I get them back.

He seems quite professional and friendly by email.

Gordon, I'm your man if it covers all years through the B model. PM me ASAP with costs etc and your mailing address. Now if I could just find a factory service manual with the disc brake and unitized carbs supplements....

I have in mind that's it's about C$100 fine in Alberta but I don't think you get any points because it's not considered a "driving" offence. Any non-belted passengers get the same fine but the government realizes that the driver typically can't necessarily force his passengers to actually buckle up so he's NOT responsible for THEIR actions.
I'm big on seat belts, having been rear ended about 15 years ago in a 3 car "accordion". If not for my belt, I would have probably had my chest crushed on the wheel and my face smashed through the windshield. As it was, the belt stopped me about a half inch from both.
IMO, I'd like to see belts upgraded to a four-point system like race cars use
.....a lot more secure setup......

Hey guys.. I have not been on this board since it went away last month for some reason.. I had it on favorites, which is the only way I find stuff  .. Anyway Ed called me and I asked him if the board was still going and he sent me a click here thing to get back on..
Anyway, a few changes with me.. Remember the last iron butt attempt with the buffalo and the chain broke and Bobbi (wife) bought me a BMW.. Well that bike was fun... I put little over 11k mles in 4 weeks on it.. My neighbor was wanting to go on a ride to Michigan and I offered the BMW to him to ride.. He said he would not borrow it, but would buy it if I would sell it.. So I did... Because it seemed like the only way I was gonna get back on the GT750.. :? Well we took the buffalo to a beemer rally in Shiloh Tenn. a few weeks ago and had a blast.. There has been a guy tring to buy my other GT750 with the low miles and original paint.. I decided to sell it on a Monday morning... About 2 hours after we made a deal, I was riding my black bike and it sputtered/backfired... I kept riding and when I looked up in the mirror, there was a solid smoke cloud behind me.. pouring out of the right upper pipe... I rode another 4 miles to get where I needed.. I then checked the transmission, because I was pretty sure of what just happened.. The tranny was low... :( So now I knew what was next.. dissasemble ... The bike went 83,395 miles before the heart attack.. We still have a riding season going on here and will probably start on it when the season stops and the snow begins.. :?
Well Bobbi asked that we get a newer bike that is shaft drive and no smoke!!! So I and pulled the newer 1975 GoldWing out. It still has original paint and is a bare bike... We rode it a few days, but it was not the same.. We were riding to Jacksonville about 10 days ago and she wanted me to pull into the Honda dealership... When she walked in the first thing she saw as a new black ST1300.. She sat on the back and said she liked it and if I liked the way it rode I could have it.. :) Of course it rode nice.. It has electric windshield, ABS brakes, shaft drive, and a 7.7 gal gas tank  ....... This thing gets 55 mpg !!! Oh, yes I got it
We had 1260 miles on it my the next day ....
So can I still play here even if I ride a non smoker ???

Allen........Still a rideaholic
