Bits to buy for GT500

Post by MalkyB »

Hi all - I have to say I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my brand new GT500 - well actually a bit of a dog of a '77 model really....

My mate Ian bought one new in 78, sold it to me in '79 and like a fool I sold it in '87 - so preamble out of the way I don't plan on restoring the bike but instead turning it into a cafe racer so....

What I really like the look of is the seat & rear hugger on this GT750 from the Higgspeed site.

Does anyone know who can supply this in the UK?

PS anyone want to buy a 2010 Rocket Roadster....???

Higgspeed shows 3 different modified seats: http://higgspeed.com/SUZUKI-GT750

Which one are you referring to?

Thanks for replying - I didn’t realise that Higgspeed made seats I thought it was just expansion pipes.

Maybe I should just drop them a note as it was the GP style I like and hopefully they can shed a little more light.

Oops, looks like I created some confusion.

Higgspeed makes the pipes. Those are customer bikes with Higgspeed pipes.

That GP style seat looks to be some modern sport bike seat that was modified to work with the GT750.
The side covers look to be stock GT750 side covers modified to blend into the seat.

:) no worries. I've sent a note off to Higgspeed hoping they'll know who owns the bike and what they did to the seat / tail unit. I'll be getting the pipes from them regardless.

Thanks for your help though!

Seat+tail looks like it could be from a GSXR.

This might be a good place to start: https://www.bikepics.com/members/richar ... otorcycles

Some really smart bikes there. Richard does seem to have been featured in CMM and there was a kettle of his for sale on Car & Classic for sale at some point but.....I did find out the rear bodywork was from a GSXR1000 K9 so I'll be looking for some bits & bobs from that on Ebay or wherever.

All I need to do is get the GT500 home....!

Just waiting for a courier to give me a day / time.

Thanks again for your help!
