Front brake pad replacement questions- 76 GT750A

Post by Evans Ward »

I’m cleaning and servicing (rebuilding) my front brake calipers on my GT750A. I have a question about new brake pad positioning on what Suzuki calls the caliper holder or bracket/ piece that moves/ floats on the 2 large Allen bolt shafts. The Clymers manual calls this pad #1. Should this pad fit tightly within the holder circle hole or should it be filed to move easily within that bore. If it is fixed tightly, approximately how much pad surface material should protrude? I know to use copper spray on the backs to prevent squealing and the manual also calls for grease around the edge of pad #1. Thanks in advance for any help.
