Sorry folks - yet another question! I have the VM28SS carb off an mostly apart. Does teh needle jet/emulsion tube come out through the venturi?
this is usual on teh CV carbs on my Yams.. Ta.

Yes. Remove slider, turn carb upside down, remove main jet and washer then drift it out with a suitable size drift. Easy-peasy. Don't forget to refit brass locating pin upon reassembly.

Update - cleared the gunge out of the bowls and the passageways so now reasonably happy with the cleanliness of these old carbs.

But on checking Haynes the main (idle?) screw says it should be 1.5 turns out mine were both closer to 5 turns out. Pilot air screws were both 'correct' at approx 1.25 turns out - any thoughts?
