T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
I feel my T500 needs the o/a gearing lowered either by using a 14 tooth engine gear or upping the rear to 35 or 36. Anyone else found this and carried out the swap?
Some people say I'm a complete fool. Ah! But some parts are missing.

Re: T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
Hi Alfie,
That is quite a common change and 14 tooth f/sprockets are a Suzuki alternative and shown in the parts book (P/N 27511-15700).
Cheers Geoff

Re: T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
If I can track one down, a 14 tooth will be tried and, from my researches tonight, will hopefully make all the difference. Do you know where I might get one Geoff?

Hi Alfie,
I checked Robertsons Foundry but they are not listing them as available but you should try Crooks Suzuki. Alpha Sports in the USA are listing the 14T. They are probably available, or look for aftermarket sprockets from Talon or B&C in the UK (or eBay).
Cheers Geoff

Re: T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
JTF431.14 It is a 520 width which works perfectly fine on a 530 chain. And next time you replace your rear sprocket and chain you are set up for modern #520. UK ebay is full of reasonably priced sprockets. I get mine from Amazon.http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/sprocket/JTF431" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
I suggest you give Wemoto a call - they do a range of rear sprockets and claim to distribute the whole JT sprocket range

Re: T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
Wemoto was one of my first lines of enquiry. The JT site doesn't list it for a T500 and I'm led to believe there's not another bike that uses the same part?

Re: T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
Hi Alfie,
WEMOCO do have chain & sprocket kits listed. You need to search for "GT500" they have 4 listed at various prices. Here is a link to the page for one of them :
http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/suzuki/gt_5 ... ocket_kit/
The listed kit is for std teeth but if you go to the "TRANSMISSION - SPROCKETS Section" you can buy 14T, 13T as separate items. I have always had excellent customer service from WEMOCO so I am sure they would sort a kit with a 14T. If your chain and rear sprocket are OK, just buy a 14T separately
.
Cheers Geoff
(PS: T500 and GT500 are the same parts as far as I know. If not I'm sure wiser heads will correct me

Re: T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
Cheers again Geoff. I'll try checking out tomorrow with Wemoto. If a 14t sprocket isn't available I'll buy a 36t rear.

I have a new GT500 sprocket at home. I'll count the teeth tomorrow.

Re: T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
36T rear - you'll change 5th gear to be what 4th is stock. If you like to cruise 55 mph and up maybe not wise. If your bike is fresh, stock porting, and timing is stock, I have found 15/33 to nice all around and bike pulls from even 4000 to 5000 rpm.
I was running a 35 in back (aluminum did not last long) and went back to 33T (due to what was out there as you are seeing and to my pleasant surprise liked it much better
. Bike comes off line in first gear hard and don't need to shift as early... better for stop light dragging 0 to 40 mph
Put what you want of course, see what works for you, But, if your t500 is as it should be you shouldn't dislike the 15/33T for aggressive street and nice cruise manners, +100 MPH top end too.
If you find someone with steel sprockets that fit other than stock let us know

Jimroid, I have been following the 520 front sprocket swap but what do you end up using on the rear and where do you get them? Thanks!

Re: T500 14 tooth engine sprocket
Rear sprocket is DR200. I have a tendency to use PBI and JT, but pick your favorite manufacturer. Some of the sprockets may need 10 minutes with a drill to enlarge the mounting holes to next size up. I REALLY find the dimensions/drawings super handy on the JT website.
