Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Actually the basic rules of the Modified class are.....
Must use a minimum of a one gallon capacity fuel tank (stock or fiberglass replica)
Must use a bolt on swing arm
Steering neck raking allowed
Footpegs must be within 6in of stock location
Rear struts must bolt on
Our best altered chassis comes in at 38lbs........28lbs is what Matt's chro-moly chassis weighs

D&D, is that what you meant to say?D&D CHASSIS wrote:Actually the basic rules of the Modified class are.....

I guess that means that a "modified" frame would weigh about the same as stock +/- swingarm difference and struts vs shocks.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Raking is allowed.........Kevin's bike is the only modified that isn't raked..........
As far as the weight goes it depends on who builds it.........

Need to default to D&D on the rule for raking the front end. Dave knows.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
That's interesting. My interpretation was that raking was mentioned in the rules for Altered and not in the list of permitted mods for Modified, so I thought that meant it was not allowed in Modified.
D&D Has been building and racing drag bikes for a lot longer than I have, so they must be right and if other "Modified" bikes are raked, it must be allowed.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Busa,
Yes, I will be there. Working on the bike this week to get it ready. I'll look for you. All the S/E bikes will be together although it will be hard to miss the 20 or so two wheeled bikes among the hundreds of sleds...
See you soon!

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
We had more than a full field of 2-stroke bikes competing as part of the AmSnow Sled Shootout. What's neat is that we had some newcomers and they brought diversity to the field. Along w the staple Kawasaki H2s, there were several stock Yamahas, a GT-550 and two modified GT-750s.
Cindy Hann was the #1 Qualifier after lowering last years record in the GG-Stock Class and earned a bye-run in the first round for her effort. She is knocking on the door of her first 100 mph run.
We dodged some rain during Friday's Test session and the air temps dropped on Saturday and Sunday setting up conditions for some fast runs.
Richard had his best run in the first round of eliminations running it out the back door for a new Personal best on his beautiful GT750 Phat Traka. He also lent a hand to a new comer racer tuning a GT-550 which kept getting quicker on each pass.
Busa 1300 stopped by and watched qualifying rounds on Saturday and I wouldn't be surprised to see him make his debut next Spring. Richard, Cindy and I really enjoyed spending some time with Busa and his friend.
I had a tough couple rounds during Qualifying but manage one pass just under the Index in the nitrous class. By Sunday morning I got ahead of the problems and laid down a pretty quick pass an hour before Eliminations started. I got taken out in the second round by my friend Smokin Joe on his 1973 H2. He was on his game and went two more rounds before losing in one of the closest races of the weekend. John Puglisi and Kevin Stephens met in the Finals and Kevin won on his beautiful LRE Redline bike in a come from behind victory nipping John at the tape! Great weekend.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
I'd like to know more about the 550 if there's any details.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
It was a stocker, first time entry. DOT tires, no bars.... straight up stock. This winter will provide several month to go through the motor, chassis, electrical and do some timing checks. Maybe upgrade to an electronic ignition which will help tuning quite a bit. Richard might have more info and maybe some pics possibly.
