Whao are these people?

Post by tz375 »

Anyone know who this seller is?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUZUKI-GT750-19 ... 2000022053" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It includes this image
Image

My beef is that it's a bike I sold a few years ago and the photo is not theirs. It was taken from my Photobucket account and used without permission. I tried to ask them politely to cease and desist, but no response and they keep using it. Anyone know who they are so I can pay a visit and see if I can persuade them to stop using it.

Maybe I just need to send them an invoice for unauthorized use of an image....

Sorry to say, but this could be bad news.

Its one of the northern-Ohio-salvager eBay accounts.
They may have purchased your bike and may now be parting it out.

But I might be wrong, so don’t get too excited without being sure.
(I know how I would feel if it happened to one of my bikes.)

Searching a well respected 2-stroke motorcycle forum may give you some insight: search.php?keywords=vintagecyclebitsnmo ... mit=Search

I have a friend whom is a professional photographer, and we had a discussion on another forum about copyrights, and using photographs found on the Internet. I'll see if I can find the discussion, and gleam some info about what you can do.

If they bought the bike, they can do what they want with it and I am OK with that. What they stole was my photo which they are using to suggest that it's the sort of bike they sell or that the parts come form that bike. That causes my blood pressure to rise.

I had a similar issue Richard with another seller advertising a YA6 who lifted one of my photos - his reply to me was ' no problem - there are loads of other photos on the net'. I reported him to eBay and the seller did actually change the photo. In another case on Youtube, the guy gave me a photo credit after lifting a photo of my GT550. It is a total pain, but I now try to watermark any photo I post anywhere - my own site, this site or other sites I participate on.

To be clear - I am fine with people quoting my material or using my photos - so long as they acknowledge where it came from and don't try to pretend it is their own. 8)

I can never tell what these people are actually selling. Used, used and refurbished, nos, new, etc. Not clear to me which causes me to NOT buy anything from them. .They may have some great parts but the ads are horrible.

Yeah just report them to Ebay, there is something about using your own pictures on ebay in the agreement. I had to pullsome tattoo flash down becaulse of it. And a lawyer contacted me to return it to me or face a lawsuit. Say you are a copyright attorney lol. it work for me, i was in the wrong and didnt even think to question it.

Bike has supposedly been for sale on there for going on a year. It has sold, a few times. Then pow, a few days later. It's for sale again. Always, thought it appeared shady. Sorry, to Ohio residents for saying so. But, I deal with nothing as far as selling or buying anything GT related from or to that state. I have been ripped off more than once. All of the long timers on here know what I'm referring to. In all do respect, I have resold other items I bought and used the same picture from previous seller. Only because it was a better pic. I always ask permission first. Under that circumstance, people have never had a problem. Being I asked kindly, first. Wouldn't think to do so, without permission. The issue you describe, is exactly what they do to sell fraudulent parts from other bikes. I hope you got a pretty penny for that bike. One hell of a nice 750.

Yep pearljam is right this guy gives ohio a black eye for any seller from Cleveland Ohio , crooked is a understatement has over 25 seller accounts after so many neg feedbacks he switches name after a year the neg fall off and he's back to 100%. This guy uses every dirty trick to sell parts (someone elses pic, barn find, dealer close out, low miles, grandpa's collection, ect ect) watch out for the paint and chrome work the flaws don"t show up until later on and you just paid $$$ for so call show quality. When he said he has been in business for 15 years he has that's why he's so good at taking peoples money.

The funny thing with that bike is that it was bought by a college buddy of the guy that I bought it from. They rode from Illinois to Cali back in the day and the buddy was looking for a similar bike for a planned reunion.

What a surprise for all involved to get his original bike all restored and running sweetly after a couple of decades (or more) of when it last ran.

The mother of all reused photos has to be these ones listed below and they are not even my photos, they belong to Rick Lance. Its been on the internet for sale so many times its now a joke. I've owned this bike for over two years and the photos still crop up on CL or Ebay every now and then. People I know contact me at least three times a year to say "your bike is being sold again". From what I can gather its been sold at least twenty times (that is known) since around 2012.

Hmm...

I wonder if Google and Farcebork are to blame?

I post the odd pic of my bikes on Forums and Farcebork but, especially with FB which gives you the option of making your pictures un-searchable by other search engines, I ensure as much as I can that they can't be redistributed.

Of course, with Forums you're at the mercy of the other users and the way images therein are allowed to be searched on - a watermark might be the only way of ensuring your copyright isn't being breached at least.
I know an image search on GT750L will turn up a picture of my bike from this very Forum, no less!

That sucks, Rich, that your pic is being misrepresented.
You can't visit him and let him know how much you don't appreciate it?
