Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Kevin,
Good luck this weekend. I'll be working unfortunately, but should get the bike back together soon. No time at the moment.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
I'll be there if it stays dry for the day, but no bikes for the track....
I have been getting bogged down by too many projects all at once and getting little done on anything...
I keep finding bikes that need saving, and lose momentum on the previous project that is in pieces, in front of me.

I have heard of that problem. I have a garage and porch that suggest perhaps it is a common ailment.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Sorry you werent able to come Richard. I saw Busa for a few minutes....my uncles showed up at the same time and i didnt get a lot of time to talk. I had a gremlin in my electrical system effecting the ignition. It was a rough weekend for me and im still trying to isolate the problem.
I did make a little progress on the setup for the lockup but I was losing power off the line on Saturday and had to stop testing the clutch.
Busa, sorry I couldnt have spent more time talking with you...but it was great to see you there. Hope one day you will come with a bike and give it try.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Yep. It went from nice high Phat bars top drag bars which were unrideable and now to a set of used clubman bars that are somewhat comfortable. It was good to meet Bus and his partner and it's always good to spend time with he hatchet who was out there carving more time off his previous best numbers.
It was a great weekend of remarkably warm sunny weather and great racing. I was put of the trailer in the first round of eliminations even though I managed to get to within .02 seconds of my dial in time. Competition is tough.
Interestingly on my first run of the weekend the bike felt really fast and everything was a blur. By the last run, the bike was actually much faster but it felt slow. It's an indication of how out of practice I was. It takes a while for the brain to slow everything else down and process things.
Most bizarre thing was the bike stuttered once at idle and when I slipped it into gear the bike started moving backwards. I thought someone was pulling the back of the bike, but then I realized it was running backwards. I had to kill it, stick in neutral, start it again and get to the line. Very odd.

I should have been sitting on my bike right next to Kevin in that picture. Hopefully next year.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
...there is an open spot waiting for you Gary. I see you have a plan for the front wheel. Not much more and you will definitely be in the lanes ready to go.
Thanks Randy for coming to check things out and snapping that pic. I need fair warning to I have time to pull my stomach in next time...lol.
Hopefully we can encourage you to come out with one of those beautiful 2-strokes you have stashed away in your shop. Would be a lot of fun and very cool to have you join us.!
Richard is fully bitten by the bug now... so we need Im going start working on you until you do it....just thinking out loud.
It was great to see you at Martin and hope you keep coming. We love fans!

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
2015 Certainly had its ups and downs. The Manufacturers Cup at Memphis was a great event and Super Eliminator was opened up to now include 4-stroke bikes with the 2-strokes. Manufacturers Cup is different in that it requires every bike to run against the current National Record based on displacement and chassis setup. Super Eliminator - Michigan Nationals and AmSnow are bracket races so you can dial in any number and the winner is determined by who is closest to their dial in. These pictures are from the September AmSnow event.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
You make us GT owners proud
I've got two 4 stroke projects I SHOULD have done before spring....so....The other GT I have in pieces will be the next one to get some attention and $$$. Which will be a bike I'll build to do some seriously fun riding....a cafe racer, track day and drag bike all in one.
Although, probably not the best bike for any of those venues...
