Re: T500 Crankshaft Rebuild Kit
Maico 490 rod, anyone tried it? There seems to be a later wider version closer to the Yam YZ450(490?) available too. Same issues I guess need to mix and match BE bearing for a 24/31/17 and modify either the crank wheels of rod for clearance.

Re: T500 Crankshaft Rebuild Kit
Just my opinion, if you've got your cases split, I would send the crankshaft up to Paul Miller motorcycle in Berlin, CT and let those guys rebuild it. For 199.00, it'll be spot on, better than factory. Thanks LexPaul

Re: T500 Crankshaft Rebuild Kit
If your conecting rod is bad it doesn't matter where you go you are SOL.
Bearings too (now maybe cruzinimage has a recent solution to that)
As one option for Rod -> how about machining the original rod?
Make the BE from 30mm to 31mm and bush the SE from 23mm down to 22mm,
There are bearing in these OD/ID size that fit the either crank/wrist pin.... length may be the issue not sure (must be cheaper to have custom made than a new rod)

Most difficult and most expensive than you think.
31/22/136... a con rod exist... so, more easier to do with

Re: T500 Crankshaft Rebuild Kit
No Cruzin image listing says will not ship to the uk, the Italian listing is marking them up ~300%. I had heard he had a rod kit in the pipe but after the oil hole problems with the mains most of his t500 stuff is no longer listed on ebay uk.

Re: T500 Crankshaft Rebuild Kit
akendall1966,
Did you straighten out your bike?
Maybe someone can buy some US and then reship to UK for only 275% mark up to compete with Italians
I am not serious about mark up... added shipping only
I would like to know if anyone has bought them and if OK.
hmmm pulled out of UK... I heard (maybe I was having a nightmare) if you leave him bad feedback he'll block you from ever buying... can that be done with eBay automatically? Don't know if true... never sold anything on eBay

Thanks,Vintageman wrote:I am not serious about mark up... added shipping only
I have family abroad who could receive and forward for me, so I am not too bothered by the fact he has for whatever reason he has stopped shipping some of his stuff here.
Given the main bearings that started this thread turned out to be made wrong, who knows if these rod kits are great value or expensive junk.
The bike is in assembly mode, been lacing wheels this week so should have a rolling chassis soon. Target is to have it on the road by the end of May. Although that will likely mean holding over some refinishing (chrome work) to next winter.

Re: T500 Crankshaft Rebuild Kit
That is what he does. He had blocked sales to Canada a couple of years ago and I had to contact him directly and have him lift the ban, which he did as I'd bought a number of things from previously.Vintageman wrote: I heard (maybe I was having a nightmare) if you leave him bad feedback he'll block you from ever buying...

Re: T500 Crankshaft Rebuild Kit
So, has anyone actually bought and used one of these kits? I see them listed in the various countries on Ebay with quite a few sales. Anyone try one? Reason I'm asking is that I have taken my 70 T500 motor apart and the connecting rods are not pretty. I just took the crank to my local rebuilder and he does not recommend using the con rods.
Thanks...Fred

Re: T500 Crankshaft Rebuild Kit
For a street bike, I'd try those Cruizinimage rod kits. I asked him about his GT750 rods for a heavy duty application and he came back and said - not suitable. For the street though, should be OK.
For racing I believe that DIno GT or Pete O'Dell have solutions.

Re: T500 Crankshaft Rebuild Kit
I'll be trying one of Cruizin's con rod kits. Got one today in the mail and headed over to my crank re builder to have him check it out. I have an NOS Suzuki con rod kit that we compared it too. Specs are dead on, only complaint from the builder is the top end bearing, a bit rough inside (he said this is a common problem with Chinese top end bearing). That's not a big deal as I plan on using the Suzi original pins and bearings for the top end. These are still available from Suzuki.
My mechanic was actually impressed with the kit and the con rods and said he wouldn't hesitate to use them. He has years of experience in building racing engines and rebuilding cranks, so we'll see next spring how they work out.
