I believe list member Wayne has one on his GT also .tz375 wrote:Thanks Dave.
A TCE Pipe of Gordon Lamb's Grey Ghost IIRC.
Nice pipe designed by Tommy Crawford that knows more about pipe than the rest of us combined. I had been offered one but it took me so long to get back to the seller that it had long gone.
That is one pipe that I'd like to strap to a dyno and test. I have no idea where people used to buy them though.

This is one of my customers bikes, he likes the "sound" of the 3 into 1, but wanted the power of the 3 into 3's. So he designed his pipes so the 3 separate pipes merged into one "can". And I think it has the best qualities of both types of pipes. It is a Kawi 500 triple in a 400 frame.

Re: GT750 Exhaust. (3 into 1, 3 into 3, stock)
Any update to this pipe building? I'm building a three into one for my 1200cc triple. I have found log manifolds and tuned length header manifolds and then Megaphones or tuned pipes aftertitan performance wrote:I used a 3-1 on my 750 back in the early 80's. The bike ran perfectly, and there was absolutely no detectable loss of performance at all. I made no changes to the stock settings whatsoever. The pipe was a "Piper", and like all 3-1 pipes had a reputation for stifling performance.
Tim and I have had a 3-1 project on the go for some time, which we hope to finish quite soon, and use on our own 750. The headers and all the components of the proto-type are made, and just need welding together. We hope to recreate the sound of the Piper, but with a better design and finish. Once it's done, I shall post pictures on the forum.

Hi MTRhead.....to be honest, we had planned to produce 3-1 pipes for retail along side our 500 chambers, but making the 750 pipe is not as simple as you might think, in fact relying on other people to bend tube to the right angle, and someone else to weld it all together has proved so difficult that we have put the project temporarily on hold. I plan to take the completed cafe 750 to this year's TT, so we have resorted to fitting 3-3 chambers to the bike as we already have them. I would really love to get the 3-1 pipe finished, as I like the look and sound that only a 3-1 produces, but as I have a 750 to finish, and a 500 to completely build between now and the end of May, the 3-1 will be waiting until the summer now.
Pictures of both the bikes will be posted hopefully soonish.

Ah .. then best try and stay away from "log manifolds and tuned length header manifolds and then Megaphones " and design a set of expansion chambers .Sounds like a interesting project is this going in a street bike or drag bike and what transmission setup are you going with ?mtrhead wrote:Two stroke. Re: GT750 Exhaust. (3 into 1, 3 into 3, stock)
Hi - I found this site searching for 3 into 1 exhausts. This motor is going in a boat hull were single pipe is part of the rules. I have a 1200 with triple pipes that currently makes over 250hp. There are plenty of all out pipes available for watercraft triple 1200's.Suzukidave wrote:Ah .. then best try and stay away from "log manifolds and tuned length header manifolds and then Megaphones " and design a set of expansion chambers .Sounds like a interesting project is this going in a street bike or drag bike and what transmission setup are you going with ?mtrhead wrote:Two stroke. I've searched and found very very little on performace 3 into 1's. I have researched all the OEM jetski triple cylinder skis and some are logs (Kawasaki stxr/Tigershark (Suzuki) and others (gp1200r) has a equal length header design. All have chambers that are more of a megaphone or a chamber with a very very short baffle cone.
Just looking for info and this site had a ton of reading
Thanks to all -

Re: GT750 Exhaust. (3 into 1, 3 into 3, stock)
First the OEM is thick aluminum casting with waterjacket (heavy). The stamped aluminum pipes (all jetski aftermarket) are lighter as well as sled pipes.
With the OEM pipe the best HP on the dyno has been 180hp @7600 rpm with a single pipe at 1200cc
Stock Yamaha GP1300R was 160hp (OEM single pipe with cat convertor) I think the 200cc was 150-155hp stock. Modified/ported/big carbs etc was 180hp w/single pipe...w/triple pipes 252hp@7800
Again looking for info that others have done with 3 into 1
