I will consider any company that will make a good quality copy that also has a reasonable cost.

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
I read somewhere that some dealers now have the capability of producing single gaskets on demand.
What files they have to work with I have no idea but if someone here knows what system they use, a file could probably be created from a scan.

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
After I dig out from the snow, I'll get the gasket and a new o-ring sent to you Ivan. Lots of snow and high wind yesterday and over night, plus the temperature continues to drop - going down to a day time high of -19C (-2F) in the next couple of days. Its refreshingly brisk out there !Ivan wrote:I sent you an e-mail at your website address...

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
So winter is there and -19c is beginning to get brisk indeed Ian, although I've sampled a few Calgary winters where it went below -35c. So I began a search for just how low the temp ever went in Canada in recorded history.
This was an eye opener and makes -30c seem warm in comparison.
* To experience the biggest of the big chills, you would have had to be standing outside at a place called Snag in the Yukon back on February 3, 1947. According to the record books, that was the coldest it’s ever been in this country, when temperatures bottomed out to a stunning -62.8C *
Richard, years ago I had some RE5 gaskets made up through an old board member who had a dealer near him that did this as a service.

Dave if you start to study how cold that really is, certain body parts can retract or suffer psychological "shrinkage" without actually being cold,,,

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
Thought you guys might like to see the improvement over stock jetting with the 34's...
It 's been a long road and a long time coming, but it will be available after the new year.

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
Ivan those new graphs look very impressive compared to the stock ones. Thats a huge improvement over the stock curves and anyone with a Cobra should be keen on having such a carb kit from you.
Most people automatically think the Cobra was the fastest of all the T500s with the bigger carbs etc, but sadly thats not true. Surprisingly the 69 T500 MKII was the T500 with the highest stock HP, it was the only one ever rated at 44 HP by the factory specs.
I wonder if the MKIIs claimed 44HP can be bettered with a kit from you Ivan.

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
Allan,
I am intrigued. The HP numbers you quoted, were those from real world dyno comparisons or factory specs a.k.a. Brochure HP?
Ivan's kit is a significant improvement for sure but it's the first GT/T500 graph I have seen so I have nothing to compare those numbers to on different model years.

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
No they were not real world dyno figures Richard, but they were released by Suzuki and they somehow decided to rate the MKII at 44HP.
Applying the laws of averages, if according to Suzuki it made that little extra HP or thereabouts when stock, it should be able to maintain that small edge again over the others if equal work is done.
Ivans results showed a better curve in HP and torque with an increase in both figures over stock, so it got me wondering how a MKII would fair on the Dyno if the same research and testing for a carb kit was done.

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
I have some stock runs from a 1975 model... I'll put them up later.
The kit for the 34's is pretty complex... it took quite a bit of changes to get them to work correctly.
The part throttle response is outstanding and vibration is very reduced. It's actually tolerable.
I'm pretty sure the factory Hp figures were like this:
1968 - 46hp
1969-1972 - 47hp
1973 and later - 44hp
I have the later carbs and will be continuing with the T500.
The next jet kit will be with the 69-72 32mm carbs
The latest carbs will be last.
Ivan

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
Thanks Ivan. The stock 34mm were the "homopressure" Yes? I'll be very interested to see what you come up with for the later models. Have you done any work on GT750 32mm carbs or BS40s by any chance?

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
Yes, they were internally vented.
So are the 69-72 32's
So are the H1 500 carbs... I'll be re-doing my kit for these as well this winter as well.
I have not worked on any GT750's so far.

Re: 68 cobra float bowl gaskets
Ivan it will be interesting to see what your end results are on the 2nd gen T500 carbs as well as the GT750s. Will you also attempt the GT750 BS40s or only the 72/73 VM versions.
