Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
I bought all of the 9.5x16x4 seals via Amazon.com
Got each seal from a different supplier. Amazon currently doesn't list any more of these seals.
I think the PO replaced the top seal on my pump with the wrong seal. And the spinning seal enlarged the spacer ID to well over 14.2mm.

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
Just got back from my local Suzi dealer after finding out that one of their suppliers deals with Winderosa, the supplier of the 9.5x16x4 oil seal. They contacted Winderosa and the seal is still available, but is currently out of stock and back ordered. Winderosa expects to have them in about a month. I have ordered 30 and will make them available to board members.

Great. The hunt for seals is over.
Of the 5 seals I just ordered: 2 were canceled, 1 was confirmed shipped & 2 are TBD.

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
As per Allan's suggestion, I plan on putting a complete oil seal/O ring kit together. I'll be using the Winderosa 9.5x16x4, the Dichtomatic 8x14x4. For the O Rings, the closest I have come in sizes is the 1.8x10, which is the right size. For the 1.8x20, I'm using a 2x20, a little snug but still works. For the 2.0x12.5, I'm using a 2.4x12.3, also close in size and works. I have been unable to source any different sizes other then what I have listed. If you have any other leads on O ring sizes that are closer in size to the original, than let me now.
If there are any other 8x14x4 that work, then please specify maker, single lip, double lip etc.
If anyone has an interest in this , then please post here and let me know so that I can order the appropriate amount, no sense in having a life time supply of seals and O rings, I'll never have that many T500's.
Yeah, I know, you can never have too many.
Cheers....

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
Fred thanks for doing this for the T500 members, please count me in for three of your oil pump kits.
Speaking of oil seals I still have some for the top section of the GT750 water pump by the bearing if anyone is interested.

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
Yep, i got my 2x12.5 from the oring store per jabcb's recommendation.
Can you post how the inch sized seal fits once you get it?
Based on what Fred mentioned, it seems like he has no problem with the 8x14x4, but I guess that is because it is a different design which increases the actual od beyond another design of the same size. Sizes stamped on these seals are not real exact, which I guess makes sense given the materials used. Sure makes things a little more difficult when trying to do what we're doing.
Thanks to Fred for helping others out with a kit...will save people a lot of time and effort to figure this stuff out.

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
The 8x14x4 dimensions are nominal sizes. The actual dimensions & tolerances are defined by the RMA or DIN standards. If you are interested in the details, its explained in the Dichtomatik catalog:CJF wrote:Based on what Fred mentioned, it seems like he has no problem with the 8x14x4, but I guess that is because it is a different design which increases the actual od beyond another design of the same size. https://catalog.dichtomatik.us/download ... 1-2011.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The sleeve ID that Fred measured is close to the spec per the DIN standards that the Dichtomatik metric seals conform to. So the new seal worked fine for him.
The sleeve ID that we (jabcb & CJF) measured is way out of spec. So we have problems with the standard seal.
Its 15° F this morning. Its going to be a while till I install the pump. I'll measure the seal when it shows up. It should work fine if the interference fit with the sleeve is in spec.CJF wrote:Can you post how the inch sized seal fits once you get it?

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
Have now ordered enough seals and O rings to put together a kit for members here, enough for 30 kits, ironically it is cheaper for me to order from the O Ring store for the rings then to get them locally, I can't believe the mark up and outrageous prices I have to pay in Canada, even with shipping and duties, much cheaper from the good old US of A. Canadian Retailers have a lot to learn from the US.

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
The Harwal oil seal just showed up.
Specs are: .313" x .563" x .25" / single lip + spring + rubber OD
My spacer has an ID of .562" & the measured seal OD is .571"
So the interference is in spec.
Seal is a little thicker than the original seal -- looks like I'll need to make a gasket for under the cover (top part with thread for tach cable).
Looks like I have a good solution for my pump.
Bloop2,
I have taken the pump apart except for the left-hand-thread bolt & the horizontal pump shaft.
Do I need to remove the horizontal shaft for cleaning? Any trick to get the shaft out?
For reassembly how is the pump primed? Can I just fill the two horizontal end sections with oil before closing them up?

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
Called Harwal. Can't order directly but they gave me names of several local retailers.
Ended up ordering seal online from Dalton Bearing.
Registed as new user & used their RFQ form: https://www.daltonbearing.com/request-a-quote.aspx
part #: Harwal 14897
description: Harwal oil seal .313 .563 .250A
cost: $4.5 each + shipping
I ordered a few extra. PM me if you want me to mail you one.

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
If you're in doubt about any dirt in there, then clean it. To take out the horizontal pump shaft, the vertical shaft has to be removed first, remove the large brass nut on the end, the piston and spring should come out with it. The shaft may come out now, but if it needs a push from the other end, you'll have to take the triangular cover off on the other end. I usually take everything apart and flush out the whole pump with brake cleaner. Reassembly I coat everything in two stroke oil. Priming the pump, I hook up the oil line from the tank and open up the left hand screw to let the air out.jabcb wrote:

Re: T500 oil pump repair problem
Just an update on the progress of acquiring the seals and O rings. Finally received the O rings from the O-Ring store. A process that took almost 5 weeks to ship a padded envelope from Idaho to Canada via USPS First class mail and Canada Post dragging their butts in delivering it. The 9.5 oil seal was ordered more than 4 weeks ago, will follow up on that tomorrow.
