I never should have sold my slabside, especially since it was unmodified except for a loud ass Yosh pipe. :(

I'd be all over that if it wasn't for the Atlantic Ocean.

Me too, superstrong engines and plenty of bits about. Only bike I had where I never got to the end of the acceleration in top gear (bottled out at 165 on the clock)

I threw down for a ebay engine http://www.ebay.com/itm/290836846336?it ... 60&vxp=mtr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so i guess i am going to turn her into a runner . I started stripping her down to clean , paint and lube up bearings .

Lots of 'improvements' to bikes since the era of GT's for sure. The lure of a newer bike is sometimes hard to resist. I figure when mine turns 50 it might be time to retire it to 'trailer queen' status and get a 2nd bike. I'll be 40 then, just in time for a midlife crisis purchase.

Looks like you're really making a lot of progress.

Josh

Got in the new bearings and brake pads so pulled the frame and some of the parts inside where it was warm enough to work and started assembly .. greasing everything well as i went . Image

If you are thinking of putting newer GSXR suspension on that at some point, would you consider selling the 18 inch wheels and rotors/sprocket?
Did you get the engine with the bike, for the $400?....if so, that's a steal.....

This was my Ebay deal, with a leaking headgasket oil seal ....until i found out that I was given a title that was not valid....
Indiana is very uncooperative with any titlework...

I have another set of same rims , rotors , forks but powder coated yellow at my house in Florida . I wasnt planing any changes to this one for now , i just want to get her up and running at the lowest cost which unfortunately is climbing as i pick up the must haves that included a replacement motor ( $850 ) so the 400$ bike is working its way to $1500 pretty quickly . I wish mine came with the stock paint job  but it did come with a nice vintage Yosh pipe .
