Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Good evening SD,
The disc is the custom 5mm thick GT750/500 jobbie from EBC. I only went down the abortive route of getting the standard disc machined down because I thought floating discs were not allowed in the class I intend to race in. This is not the case so I have a nice new modern disc, If the braking power needs increasing I can just throw a caliper and disc on the other side.
Cheers Geoff

Really like the look of the shouldered aluminum rims. BTW...where did you pick up the upper fairing bracket that mounts to the triple tree?

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Hi Chris,
The top front fairing mount/lock stop was crafted by my own delicate hands
. Steel plate and tube which was then Silver Soldered together. Time will tell if Silver Solder ($20 a rod) will be resilient enough but I don't have the necessary "heat" at home to do brazing.
I hope to get the tyre mounted to the front rim today and fit the front mudguard, possibly bleed the brake.
The nice rear hub has given the wheel builder man pause for thought as he can't feed in the inner spokes, I need to talk to Minnovation as to how he needs to go about it.
Cheers Geoff (Xmas in the workshop this year, just leave the Christmas pud on the bench dear

Hi Chris,
I was shown a couple of examples like the ones on that web page and modeled my own in the same fashion. Get inspiration where you can find it

Front tyre mounted and I only ruined one new tube this time (sheesh, I always thought I was good at tyres)

The Team Zunspec racing waggon has been assembled and is ready to go. All I need is the bike to go in it

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
6'x4', the Seeley should fit in diagonally. I am pondering a mod to the front panel which should extend the fore-aft dimension by 8 - 10". The next size up trailer was +£300 so I settled on this one.

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Watch the towball weight. You might have to extend both front and back. Or have a mount for a front wheel spindle on the front which can be used after the bike is rolled on, and the front wheel taken out. Safer transport too, if a bit messing about-y.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Hi Alan,
Yes, a front wheel spindle mount would be easy enough to rig up. According to my calculations the Seeley should be accommodated in one piece diagonally, the proof of the pudding of course will be to try it. It would be sensible to have a "Plan B" though
.
To lessen any tow ball weight issues I'll load tool boxes etc. at the rear of the bed. Fitting a plywood base at the moment and installing strap anchor points (after I get over the effects of the wood treatment
)
Cheers Geoff

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
I have a trailer here that i picked up for a good price at Lowes that is just a bit short for full size bikes with the lift gate up so i made a track that i can quickly bolt down to the floor of the trailer that runs from the front of the trailer to the back edge of the gate when its laid open . When i am not useing the trailer for a bike the track unbolts and i can close the gate so i can use the trailer for other uses .
the older i get the faster i was

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Hi Dave,
I had considered running with the tail gate removed but I would like to enclose the bike in someway to keep all the road grime off it when towing. Keeping the tailgate closed helps in this respect. I intend to extend the front of the trailer by about 12 inches which looks fairly simple to do and also fitting a channel of some kind to secure the bike. It keeps one busy
.
Cheers Geoff

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
I can recommend those rocknroll front wheel stands.....we bought a couple that we use on our bike lifts, and in the back of the van. They are free standing, and you just roll the front wheel into it, the bike then stands supported. It then takes a minimum of ratchet straps to hold it securely.

I went looking for those stands on eBay, some priced at £99.95. Also the same same stand offered for £34 inc delivery
