Yes, I have 4 or 5 kits that have been out for a few years now, but no one has actually installed one and ran it yet......Suzukidave wrote:John , i see you have finished a reed kit for the 500 ?

Yes, it's been to Deals Gap and back. I was going to mail it from there, and we left on a Sunday. It's all boxed up in my shop. You had said you didn't want it cut up. I can send it back now if you like. I have another one now that I am cutting up.tz375 wrote:Don't you still have that block I sent?

Just doing a bit of prototyping, this looks like a vacuum port maybe?

SRIS fitting, it's not necessary and there are 2 more on the front of the block.

OK, next question.......
Since there are very few "drag racers", I am aiming this reed conversion kit towards the performance street/cafe guys. What size carbs do you guys run? the Kawi 750 guys usually run 34's.

Moo, I'd prefer VM32 or VM34. And invisible reeds like Kawi Triple Stage One.

Thanks for the reply. And it's not going to be possible to do an invisible install.argo1974 wrote:Moo, I'd prefer VM32 or VM34. And invisible reeds like Kawi Triple Stage One.

OK, I'd prefer genuine look carbs in stock position. I may consider trying out your Kawi 750 Stage One reeds on my 68" Cobra. Any dimensions available? I wonder if there is enough meat in the intake area to accept them.

Well, there isn't a way to do it stock without being extremely complicated.

Porn...
All that nice Barton motors stuff. Small reeds though. I wonder how well that worked.

Re: GT750 reed intake idea's
I believe it was in a side car rig . JaMoo is a firm believer in the smaller reed set is better for all but all out flow thats in a RPM range beyond the GT's red line limits . On the Kawasaki list John posted a flow chart comparing his reed set to the available 4 , 6 petal sets . It is nice that the smaller reed boxes could get in so close that they go between the cylinder studs , so they arnt any more than 2 1/2" wide .

Re: GT750 reed intake idea's
I thought I would do an update,
The kit I am basing the GT 750 kit off of for the Kawi 750 has finally been dyno tested. The tester is probably the biggest Kawi HP maker in the world, so he knows his $hit
The test was a alpha test, as this design was totally new, and I had no idea if it would work at all. The compression was stock with a squish modified head (he has a special 1 cylinder dyno mule motor) stage II port and 38mm Mic carb, and TomCat pipe. He was impressed enough to say "If it was my product, I wouldn't hesitate to put it on the market, and that's pretty damn cool!
With just a bit of jetting (this was all "gratis", so I didn't push for a lot of testing) he got very close to 40 crank hp at around 8000 rpm. He said it has a very nice curve.
So the parts are on the way back, and I have a motor to build for beta road testing. I'm pretty pumped!
