gt55o cylindercover polish

Post by carlo »

My ram air covers are scratched, and I would like to do them very nice and shiny. What procedure and kind of sandpaper are useful.
Thanks for answer

Mostly its just old fashioned 'elbow grease' eh ? :D

- possibly file the areas of deep scratches
- then wet sand with 600 paper
- then finer
- then finer
- finish with 2000 grit
- then use a mop (possibly on a power drill) and usually red followed by blue polishing compound
- then lovingly apply a cream or liquid metal polish and repeat frequently (or in a salty or wet climate you may want to clear coat)

When re-attaching the shroud, don't forget to re-connect the ground wire. 8)

If at first you don't succeed, just get a bigger hammer !

What is red and blue compound?
(I have until now only used autosol for polishing; sometimes windows/mirror cleaner for polishing)
