Re: I'll finish the question. Which oil is best
OK I'll bite. Any Silkolene product.
2T Silkolene Super-2 Injector http://silkolenestore.com/more.asp?ProdID=148
or Comp 2 Injector http://silkolenestore.com/more.asp?ProdID=147
Stay away from anything designed for snowmobiles and PWCs and lawnmower oils unless you are stuck in the sticks with no other option. And don't use pre-mix oils - their viscosity is too high to pump reliably.
I'm sure there will be a stream of people along soon to tell you something different, but you can ignore them.
There are as many opinions on oil as there are people on this forum I suspect and we'll all tell you what worked for us. I like Silkolene and Motul and Silkolene store supported our team back in the Aprilia cup days so we used their oils in all our race bikes - Honda RS125, 250, TZ250/350, TD3 and never had an oil related problem or a smoke issue if it comes to that.

I found a couple of bottles of this
http://www.spectroshop.com/2-stroke-dir ... od_31.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
in the cupboard from our race days. It will work nicely in that TZ I need to complete and it's designed to run at 32:1 not some silly number.

If you street ride, and don't like to make smoke (green police remove our rights) use a JASO FD rated.
It works at stopping smoke for sure... if you still smoke noticeably when warmed somethings else is up. Motul, Castrol, PJ2. I've tried, KLotz (oops i ran some left over snow oil since had no snow... no smoke but has strong scent).
I may like smell, but sure people don't behind me. Motul and Castrol and PJ2 for example make no real strong scent. Regardless, I pull over and let people pass when I can. The fact these bikes are not very fuel efficient leave a strong unspent gas smell regardless. (analogeous to the good ol days when everyone was smoking in a restaurant or following behind and early 70s car).

I use Castrol Super Lube in my 72 kawasaki H1b and in my 74 GT 750..I've been using yamalube in my H2 since the start .
Both oils work fine.

When I get the 550 done it had better not smell of unburnt fuel at £6 a gallon FFS!!!!Vintageman wrote: The fact these bikes are not very fuel efficient leave a strong unspent gas smell regardless.
40+ mpg with decent use is easily achievable regularly (or was when I had the first one many years ago.)
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: I'll finish the question. Which oil is best
Oh come on Justin, Mine was doing 40mpg until I changed from stock pipes and jetting. There's a whole range between idle and WOT you should try sometime.pearljam724 wrote:40 mpg ? In your dreams pappy. With ethanol fuels, you'd be lucky to hit 20 mpg. Unless, you consistently cruise at 3k rpm. It's difficult to achieve 40 mpg with a modern bike. Unless it's a two cylinder.

No really... it's supposed to smoke.

TZ 375 stated
My testing shows its an excellent product, especially when most of the testing was done running at consistent highway speeds.
Its cleaned up what was a gunky old Buffalo engine that previously had serious carbon build up issue.
I don't know Richard, we had agreed that the Shell Advance snow ultra was a pretty good product from the data sheet info.Stay away from anything designed for snowmobiles and PWCs and lawnmower oils unless you are stuck in the sticks with no other option.
