Dave,

Here is the place I bought it from. I also got the lightweight braided hose and hose end fittings which are actually slip on so no crimping is required. You can reuse the hose end fitting over and over if you want.

That's pretty cool 8) 8) Where would you get a banjo big enough for that and what size water line? Is the bolt material aluminum or steel?

Nicely done Dave....you certainly dont waste any time once you get an idea! Your approach eliminates the need to remove the cylinder head which is what I had to do. Do you plan to use the Bypass in the same way as stock...just rerouting or do you have something totally different in mind.

I bookmarked one of the sites I used to learn more about threads....I'll post it here if it might help others:

sorry to hijack your drag bike thread .. yeah .. i wanted a setup i could thread in without removeing the head each time and this will be set up like the stock bypass . I just couldnt run the hose in the stock way cuz the reed boxes are in the way .

Dave, no problem....i figured you had to get around the reeds. In the past, ive tried different kinds of hose and found that most collapse easily. The braided steel helps prevent that. I have some spare -6 and -8 if you want to try it. Same stuff as what you see in the pictures I posted. I dont know the size of your barb but I can send and you can see if it fits.

Kevin, That looks really neat.

Dave, if you are working through that sort of issue you are making progress.

All I manage to do was to cut up a perfectly good exhaust which will now probably make a ton of noise and the same amount of power. :?

What's the latest on the Hatchet machine? I would say it's a given that the bike will get into the 9's with Smokin Joe riding it but how about you Kevin? I know you want to be there also and I have felt the last couple of years that you will do it and I still feel that way. How much weight difference is there between you and Joe, 50 lbs? Can you get some more ponies out of your motor or are you concentrating on weight cuts, frame mods, etc. to get the et down? Your bike has never sounded as good as it did those last few trips to Thompson.

I think Kevin posted this video before of his bike at Thompson the last day of his riding season. I like to describe the sound of a dragbike that is running it's best as sounding happy. It just seems to sing to the rider and make a sound like it is happy to be running so well and letting the rider know that just from the sound. The Hatchet machine definitely had that sound on that day and I bet it can't wait to gulp down some fuel this year and wow a lot of 2 stroke race fans at the track in 2012.

You're right about one thing....that bike will go well into the 9s with the right rider. Joe weighs about 170-175 with leathers and helmet. I'm 230 so it more like 55-60 lbs between us. I have 4 mods that all need some testing. But the biggest improvements will come from lots of practice. I'll be going to Thompsons shortly after it opens. I know Smokin Joe had some repairs from last year and hopefully he's making progress on those.

I cant think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning than racing the GT with Smokin Joe on his H2. Bet the cameras will come out for that one!

Here's Smokin Joe doing his thing!

Finally got the bike fired up this week in preparation for the first of three S/E races this season. June 8th, off to Indy to see if the winter mods will net better times and speeds. I'll post some pics shortly with a list of the mods. The Mikuni TMX flat-slides will get tested later in the month. If the cooling water mod works at Indy, it will work fine everywhere else. :D

Hotel booked,
Trailer reserved,
Fuel just arrived..... things are starting to come together!
