Very merry Christmas .. but still the resto questions come

Post by MikeH1A »

Merry Christmas guys :D :D One of the benefits of living at the bottom of the world is we get the special days before you do (by a few hours) 8) The day should be fun as my 9 year old just opened his electric guitar kit :wth:

There's still time to fettle the Buffalo amongst the crziness though. My question:

I have just put the new sprocket onto the carrier and tightened it all up. As I fitted it onto the rear wheel, I noticed that the carrier slipped into the cush drives easily and there is a slight wobble (not a lot of travel but definitely can be moved side to side a bit). Does this mean my cush drives are worn and need replacing or is it ok to have a bit of "slop" ?

Many thanks for any advice. Also, thanks so much for all the friendly advice and help over the year as I have pulled apart my first Buffalo. Hopefully only weeks now and she'll be back on the road

Take care and have a good festive season with your special folk.

I think you're probably right. I just watched a restoration DVD made in the UK and he had to bash the sprocket carrier on with a rubber hammer 8) My one slips right in and looks like it'll slip right out again if left to it's own devices LOL

Time to go seeking some new ones. Thanks

Oh YES put new cushions in. I had some bad ones in a Honda once that I did not know were bad and broke all of the webbing in the hub. Sprocket turned, but NOT the wheel. New hub, cushions, wheel truing, and lightened wallet made everything right again.......
