My fault jab. Missed the "K" in your instructions. Just checked it again and have 12.81K on the left and 14.02K on the right. I have the 3300 model shown here:

BTW: Have those nos coils on my "watch" list if we can determine that's what I need.

Your meter should be fine.
What is the internal resistance of your meter? To get internal resistance, set meter to 200 ohm scale & touch the leads together.
Am I right:
1) on 200 ohm scale, all 6 coils have 4 ohm resistance
2) on 20k ohm scale, you measured the 2 coils on the bike. Left is 12.81k & right is 14.02k ohms
Check for coil grounds with coil primary & secondary disconnected. Check resistance between black wire & metal coil bracket. Check resistance between white wire & metal coil bracket. Should get infinite.
Check voltages as I described.

You are correct on 1 and 2 above with infinite resistance coil wires to ground.
Going back to the instruction, IF I did this right, will explain what I did and perhaps correct me if I misunderstood:
with switch on, All wires connected:
1) Battery pos side to neg side: 11.88v. Orange coil wires to Pos terminal: 0.55v
2) coil orange connections to ground: 11.35v Right open/ left closed...11.18v L open, R closed.
3) May have confused this one? Don't understand how I can have one meter probe in orange connectors , the other to black or white wire and still go to a ground so I didn't??
10.90v to white, L closed, R open. (Also went to black and got 0.01v)
10.93v to black with R closed/ L open. (0.01v to white)
This seems OPPOSITE of what it should be???
4) Orange coil to Battery pos: 0.73v. To battery negative????: 11v. (That seems weird also)
Not sure if I said but my meter has 0.2 ohms internal resistance
Thanks jab! People have tried to talk me through this stuff before and I usually would get frustrated by not understanding what they were saying and have to give it up for awhile. You are doing GREAT! Not sure about me???? LOL!
EDIT: Forgot to say I don't know if this is normal or not or if my meter is goofy but it shows a (-) sign before some of these values above???

The readings don't quite add up. But none of those values point to your problem.
When you checked for coil grounds, did you have the meter on the 200 ohm scale?
Do you have any other condensers you could try?
Am busy this weekend. Will get back to you to explain the readings & to give my thoughts on what to do next.

Did have it on 200 ohms and do have other condensors. Take your time jab. Been fussing with this thing going on 3 years! LOL! Have a great Christmas!

If you have a 2amp charger attach it up while testing so you dont get a false reading just from the battery dieing while testing . Slide a business card between the points to keep them open , test the orange wire junction to the coils with the ignition on , it should read battery voltage and that should be around 12 volts , if not somewhere between there and the battery you have a poor connection . if that passes we can go to the next step.

Perhaps some clues here? Have 13v with 2 amp charger on and switch on for all these tests BUT with all the tests I rechecked as per jabcb's instructions, the voltage meter would start at 12+ or 13+v and fall slowly while the charger would ALWAYS drop rapidly (less than a minute) down into the 9's at times and ALWAYS in the 10v range. The meter would ALWAYS read higher. Please refer to his 4 steps previous:
1) Switch on, batt + to - meter starts at 13.50v and falls slowly to 12.50 in about a minute. All tests were about a minute. Charger 2A started at 12.7v and falls fast to 9.8v
2) Left points open, White wire reads zero and black 12.40v and falling slow.
Right points open, white reads 12.60 and falling. Black is zero
3) Left open, black reads 0.25v steady and white 12.50 and falling
Right open, black is 12.90 and falling. White is 0.18v steady.
4) Battery pos to neg is 13.70 and falling
Again, ALL these tests have the charger falling FAST???

edit: just tried an ATV battery that tests 12.70v on the bench.....same deal. Runs on left, not right.

These descriptions can be a bit confusing. Just to get us on the same page, the readings should be similar to what I've diagramed below. The numbers should add up fairly closely.
With both points open. As suzukidave suggested, use something like a clean business card to keep the points open. Voltage should not drop with time because there is no load. With one points open. Here is a blank diagram so you can fill in your numbers.

Triangle is called "delta" & refers to the difference between two voltages.

Heading down to perform the voltage tests jab. Did all this as described in the book with both the switch on (hot wire connected) and with switch off. Results were infinite Ohms with meter set at 200 ohms??? Back soon
