What's it worth? 86' gsxr1100

It's in fair shape, fair cosmetically, motor is good, no problems other than it jumps out of second gear, has 9k miles showing, clear title...the reason I'm asking is the VIN is around 200, and it's a first year bike...what would this be worth?

I'm looking to buy, not sell, was wanting to get an idea of what price I should offer the guy.

Thanks,
Dan

Hey Grease....brilliant bikes, the old slabbie ! Bought a brand new one in 87, (1100H in red and black). Had four others consecutively right up to 98, when I bought a TL1000S.
I did used to wheelie them just about everywhere....and second gear starts by jumping out, usually with a few revs on, then ultimately, drive is lost alltogether.
The price should reflect the seriousness of the fault.....
Keeping old 2 strokes alive !

He's asking $1200 for it, but I think $1000 USD would get it, does this sound about fair for one that needs reconditioning (repaint, trans work, etc.)? It sounds like a vintage hayabusa going by the specs online :)

NADA prices seem to be a reasonably good guide.

NADA '86 GSXR1100: excellent $1375, very good $950 & good $475.

Looks like $1000 would be too high for a bike with trans problems.
BAS (Bike Acquisition Syndrome) - too many bikes but have room for more
