Starter Ground 76 GT750
I hjave just noticed that I have a ground cable maybe 4 inches long that I am not sure of where it goes. I have everything else hooked up but this one wire. I think it ties into the frame via the battery tray bolt but not sure where the other end would go. I am thinking that this is the reason for my starter not coming on when I hit the start button. Can anyone help me find where this cable is suppose to go ? When i press the starter button I here a click every so often but nothiong happens.

left rear engine case bolt to the frame. There's an 8mm bolt by the left rear upper engine mount.

Re: Starter Ground 76 GT750
The motor itself is the starter ground. The only wire that goes to it is the heavy wire from the starter relay. That is why it is IMPORTANT to ground the engine to the neg. battery terminal with the braided strap. It completes the 'loop'.
Are you referring to a light guage wire with a male bullet conector?

I fixed the grounding issue and now everything is functioning properly. As far as the light gauge wire with a bullet connector on it, I have one that is black with a white stripe that has no mate.

I think that is an accessory ground. Back in the day, lots of guys had fairings and CB radios. As far as the light gauge wire with a bullet connector on it, I have one that is black with a white stripe that has no mate.

That explains it. Well, I will just leave it alone then. Thanks for the help. I am hoping to have a video of it up this weekend of its first startup after 4 1/2 years of sitting. I will post it on here for everyone to see.
