T500 steering bearings that actually fit?
Can anyone point me toward a set of steering stem bearings for a 1975 T500 that actually fit? I bought the kit from AllBalls racing that they list for the T500 (22-1005) and they are not even close. I knew about the stack dimension going in, but the bearing ID's seem to be wrong as well. I think they've assumed the T500 takes the same bearings as the GT series bikes.
Help!!!

The T500 uses the same as the Kwaka 500 triple. I have used them and they are a perfect fit.

Second that - I bought the allballs set for the KH400 Kawasaki and they fit straight in, ID, OD and assembled height all spot on.

Would that be the All Balls part # 22-1012?

The Kawasaki kit fit my T500 perfectly, no mods required.

OK, I know they fit but is 22-1012 the part number I want?

Well, thank you for that ..... finally .... that was worse than pulling teeth, lol. I thought the whole point of forums like this was to find and share info, not make it a major guessing game. I'm on many other forums for many other bikes. They tell you right out part numbers and usually provide links. I guess that's not how things are done around here? That's a shame because I hoped to share info and lots of pics as my resto progresses. Guess I'll just follow forum protocol and keep it all a secret unless someone pries it out of me with like 5 or 10 posts, lol.
That's too bad really because I'm a carb guy. I've tweaked and tuned most all of them (Bing, Delorto, Mikuni). I can't wait to have at my 500 carbs. That elusive P-4 needle jet? I have plans already to tune around that. Unless someone knows (and will tell me) where to get one? Or another series that will work? Probably not, so I'll use my carb tuning knowledge to work around it - and then not post any of the results as seems to be the way of this place. Am I wrong in this thinking? Did I just get off on the wrong foot here and deal with people not willing to share without massive slaps up the side of their heads in this thread, lol??

Wow man. Did somebody shoot your dog? I have been a member here for almost 8 years and have gained and shared knowledge and ideas. You're here two weeks and already ranting? Ya know, not everyone here owns or knows anything about a T500. You got your information in a matter of hours. If that's too long then forget the carbs and tune your attitude instead.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: T500 steering bearings that actually fit?
What guessing game? Anyone with even the smallest degree of reading comprehension skills would have known what kit to use simply from reading the posts that were already in the thread. Do you think we've just got part numbers memorized? Several of us told you what bike kit to buy. Are you so helpless that it was a major ordeal to look up the part number yourself? Go back and read this thread from the beginning. I asked what kit to use and a couple of guys told me to get the Kawasaki triple kit. That was all I needed to know. AllBalls only lists ONE steering bearing kit for the Kawasaki triples. It isn't like there was a confusing array of kits for you to chose from...there was ONE.5twins wrote:Well, thank you for that ..... finally .... that was worse than pulling teeth, lol. However, since you were still in need of further verification of the part number...despite 3 people listing the kit in this thread...I went out to the garage and spent about 20 minutes looking for the bearing package I used. I couldn't find it...so I went online to AllBalls web page and looked up the kit FOR YOU...then came back here and confirmed that indeed you had the correct number.
What did I get for spending 20 minutes of MY day to help YOU? Moaning and whining that we didn't do enough to help. Good luck with that attitude in the future.
BTW, in case you haven't noticed this isn't a hugely active forum so some of us don't necessarily check it every day.

Re: T500 steering bearings that actually fit?
I just wanted to get the part number verified and into the thread, maybe to help the next guy who comes along? I had already found it myself but figured someone already using that part could best verify it. As far as ranting goes, I think you guys are better at it than me, lol.
