new baby 750L
She set for 31 years, had her running and took first ride in 1 week. She is a great ride, just has a couple of glitches to get worked out.

I hope it all works out for you with no surprises......but.....those ape hangers and that sissy bar HAVE to go, IMO.

after putting a few miles on it, mechanically it feels very sound, likes to roll down the road at a really good clip, I have come to like the feel of the ape hangers they are very comfortable, the sissy bar don't look the greatest but is nice to strap things to. it had set in storage units for 31 years, it was dry stored so with an oil change, gas and antifreeze it was running like a charm. the tank was wet stored so it was a job to clean but it is still in good shape. I still need to recover the seat and put a new petcock on it. along with the apes and sissy it has 10 overs in the forks. I have been surprised how much poewr this thing has, you say go it goes. Now I see what the big deal is with all of you and the buffalos.

I'm guessing you also flushed out the brake lines on the front callipers ? After sitting for that long, normally you can expect to see some corrosion around the the piston seal which is easy to clean out, and just ensures that the calliper doesn't tighten up on you. Also the brake hoses are worth looking at closely - they are still available and easy to change.

Sure did, the old fluid was dark and nasty. the lines are still suppel with no cracking. It took some work to get the master to bleed out and work right but once I got the old fluid and air out it all workes nice. The throttle cables are smooth but when I put the carbs back on it is a stiff pull on the throttle, is there any way to lighten the pull up, I cleaned all of the linkages when I had the carbs off, it made the throttle work but it is really stiff, is there a way to lighten the pull up?
Also is there any harm in converting it to a standard petcock instead of the vacume style?

Just a quick update, after some time and alot of elbow grease she has turned into a great ride. Now time for some new vinal and rubber to be ready for the summer.
