Reassembling after rebuild - any tips?

Hey all,
I have been rebuilding my GT185 over the past few months. I have a fresh crank, all new seals etc. I have never rebuilt an engine before so I was looking for any tips on reassembly. I have been lubing all oil seals on the outside with oil. Is there any thing else I should be paying attention to during reassembly?

Thanks,
Jarrad

Before you put any sealant on anything, assemble the bottom end and transmission. Make sure EVERYTHING works, shifts, turns, doesn't tighten up, the kick start works, etc. etc. etc.!!! Make sure everything is in place, all the little locks, pins, clips and see how everything fits together! You might have to do it a couple of times before you can seal the cases!!

What Cliff said.

You won't regret checking everything a few times. Use diagrams in the workshop manual to make sure you have put all the washers and springs back in the right place.

I fluffed about for about an hour trying to get the trannie to shift until I realised I'd left a little bracket off the selector drum ratchet. Lucky I was testing before bolting up the cases.
